christien was still struggling with the overwhelming change of becoming a wolf. he had just gone through his second full moon, and shit. it didn’t get any better. he jumped when the woman called out to him, too on edge. “what makes you think i’d fuckin’ know?”
“It’s quite easy to assume those in town live here,” Ainsley answered with a blank expression. She had never liked swearing, maybe she was still a bit old fashioned that way. “And if I was looking to know if those who lived here would like something, of course I would ask residents. Now, do you have an intelligent opinion or not?”

“you’re kidding, right? i think marion would completely benefit from having an art gallery. but… i’m a bit biased. would they enjoy it, though? that’s the tough question.”
“Biased? Are you an artist?” Ainsley asked with a smile. The thought of potential artists to promote was constantly at the forefront of her mind. “I have been meaning to buy a property. I always love a good art gallery, showings with everyone dressed up a bit. I suppose when someone loves art but can’t produce it themselves, that is the best way to go,” she chuckled.
at first, emeline didn’t want to react. she wanted to just keep pretending that her past life wasn’t going to come and bite her in the ass. that she was going to stay undetected as a supernatural creature. but no. she remembered ainsley. she remembered that five-year-old girl that she met and nearly raised herself.
her arms outreached into a hug. “you’ve gotten so big.”
It was almost as if a weight was lifted off her the moment Emeline put her arms around her. Suddenly she felt safe for the first time in centuries. She wrapped her arms tightly around the other, and couldn’t help how big her smile got. Not one of slight amusement like she was used to, but one of pure joy. “And you haven’t changed a bit,” Ainsley laughed before stepping back again to look at her former caretaker. “I have so many questions, do you have time to catch up?” she asked, gesturing towards the tables on the cafe side of the building.
If there was one kind of human Ainsley actually showed interest in, it was artists. Their lives may be short, but they leave behind things that last long after they pass. For so long now, she had held her business from her own home, but as she had no intention of leaving Marion, she thought she might work towards something a bit more permanent. She sat on a bench in town and pondered this until she saw someone walk by. “Excuse me?” she said as she reached out a bit without actually touching them. “I’m trying to decide on something, do you believe the town would enjoy having an art gallery?”
emeline was trying to pick out a new book after she completely devoured her last purchase, before she heard her name spoken by someone she didn’t know. her head turned as the blonde spoke, trying to figure out just where she knew an ainsley norwood from. —— wait…. the norwood family? she nannied for them centuries before. was this the same ainsley?
her options were limited in her mind. she could deny and just go about her day, a little under the radar still. but she was curious as to what happened to the young girl that she helped raise. “where might i know you from?” she asked, trying not to give it up quite then.
Ainsley couldn’t say she wasn’t disappointed by the question. But it made sense, to a little girl those memories tend to stick, but to a woman, especially a vampire, she couldn’t say. But she knew she could trust her memories, and she was certain she was right and this was the woman she thought. Taking a chance, she lowered her voice but came out with it. “England, the 1780s. You were very important to me, I wouldn’t forget your face. Only I...well I never expected to see you again.” Ainsley may not have an accent anymore but she hoped this would convince Emeline to believe her. “I really am pleased to see you. You can trust me,” she smiled.

Ainsley enjoyed going to the Verbatim Bookstore, looking for different editions of her favourites while trying whatever the new coffee trend was. She was looking at a copy of Pride and Prejudice with a beautiful new cover when she noticed another woman near her and felt the need to look up. This had been the first time she had been shocked in years, her mind trying to deny it, but the only explanation she could think of was that her former nanny had been a vampire all along. She stepped toward her to get a closer look, just to be sure. “Emeline? Is that you?” she asked nervously, a smile spreading over her face thinking of how much of a mother figure she had been to the blonde as a girl. “It’s Ainsley Norwood... I’m not sure if you remember me.”
“well damn, there goes my plans for the day.” in all honesty, emri could get in his death trap of a vehicle and drive on out of here. he’d find some entertainment on the road. but he has customers here and so he has to stay a little longer to get some business done. well- that is if he isn’t bored to death beforehand. “it’s been two weeks, living here for eight years sounds like hell.” he scrunches his nose up at the mention of a nightclub. “a dark room where everyone’s packed in like sardines with only two exits? pass.”
“Well, it does have an exclusive room in the back,” Ainsley mentioned vaguely. She personally liked the peaceful life, so she found it hard to relate to being bored here. Well, as peaceful as things can be for her with werewolves around. “Don’t you have any hobbies? You seem like someone who needs to learn to relax and take it easy for a while.”
❝ 𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒍, 𝒊𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒕. ❞ The sneer was more heard than seen, millennia of experience keeping the handsome face blandly pleasant. He had been in a lot of places that could be described as awful, but this little southern swamp town was really in the running for being the 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 armpit of the world. Irritation kept his body coiled and tight, fingers itching for something to do. Alaric turned sharp eyes to the other, cutting and calculating, as nostrils flared in a subtle scenting of the air. ❝ At least, it would be if it wasn’t so damn boring here. Is there anything fun in this town? ❞

“And you didn’t realize that before coming here?” Ainsley laughed. She knew people often didn’t like the slower pace of small towns, but she adored it. It didn’t take her long to realize there was no need for her to rush anything ever again. “You have to make your own fun. What does this town not offer that others do? Really, with the internet you can bring nearly anything you enjoy straight to you,” she shrugged lightly.
emri has been in town for two weeks and he’s already bored. he has drank his way through the bars, he won’t be caught dead roller skating or sitting in a movie theatre and he’s pretty sure he has ate everything off the misty’s diner menu, sans the eggs section because despite being a grown man he still can’t bring himself to eat that shit. he sighs heavily through his nostrils and pinches the bridge of his nose before letting it go. “i’m going stir crazy, someone feel free to stab me it’d at least be entertaining.”
“Tempting as that offer may be,” Ainsley raised a brow at the blunt suggestion. “I’d hate to get blood on this blouse,” she smirked. She wasn’t sure if he was kidding or not, but thankfully sarcasm was a good cover for her telling the truth. “Do you get bored so easily? I’ve been here eight years, sometimes you have to make your own amusement. Have you tried the Wild Things nightclub?”
“Goddamn it.” Aster cursed under her breath, the hood of her car was propped open as she investigated. She knew she needed to get a new car, this one was clearly past it’s prime, but she just could never bring herself to do it. And every time something went wrong with it, she regretted that decision. She couldn’t help it though, she was strongly attached to it - even if it was barely driveable when she first got it. She had backed away from the vehicle for a moment to take a few deep breaths when she spotted someone passing by and, in an act of desperation, actually spoke to them. “Hey! Uh-, sorry to bother you but do you know anything about cars?”
Ainsley had been walking by at that moment, daylight ring on her finger, when she noticed the car troubles. She hoped the girl wouldn’t speak to her, but she wasn’t so lucky and sighed quietly. She raised her head to get a better look at the other from under her sunhat. “About buying them? Yes. But not about how they work.” Distant as she might be though, Ainsley didn’t like the idea of leaving a young woman alone who needed help. “I have a roadside assistance account with my insurance company, I’ll call them and wait with you,” she announced before quickly making the call and turning back to the other.

Ainsley Norwood was born and raised in the English countryside by her wealthy parents. They were a prominent family, and there were few things her parents cared about more than appearances. As a young girl, she was obsessed with tales of romance, often taking books out to the meadow to sit and read under a tree, wearing a crown of wildflowers she had made herself. She especially did this to try and escape the constant plans her parents layed out for her and the rest of her life.
When she was 19 and still unmarried, her father grew frustrated. She had so far turned down any match he had made for her, and when that word spread, fewer men bothered to even try. The real reason she was turning them down was that she had a secret blossoming romance with a young man tended to the stables for her family. She loved him and thought they would run off and get married and live and charmed little life, but then she found out she was pregnant. She tried to hide it for as long as she could, but eventually her parents found out. They decided to lock her away so no one would know, telling everyone she was spending time with an aunt in France.
Ainsley was afraid, her parents kept telling her she couldn’t keep her baby once it was born. She constantly asked for the man she loved, but it didn’t take long for her father to give her the news, the man she loved had taken an offer from her father for a great deal of money in exchange for him leaving and never seeing Ainsley again. She was heartbroken and numb, constantly going over their relationship in her head. When she gave birth, she had a little girl, but her parents took the baby away almost immediately and refused to tell her where her daughter was going. From then on, she knew money was the real source of power, and she thought of love as just a fairytale.
By the time she was 21, she was engaged to a rich man her father had business with. She hardly knew anything about him, but she didn’t care anymore. They were married and Ainsley felt like a trophy in her new home, her husband never wanting her to cause a fuss. Shortly after, her mother passed away, and now Ainsley was being controlled by just her father and husband, and she felt trapped. Over the years, her husband showed a more controlling and violent side, his temper always out of control when business dealings didn’t go his way. Then when she was 29 and still hadn’t been able to conceive a child with her husband, he lost his patience with her.
One night, her husband had set a dinner for them and her father, but when they walked into the dining room, he was nowhere to be found. Instead, a few men her husband had hired took them both by surprise and both Norwoods found themselves with knives in their stomachs. Ainsley’s husband had planned to make it look like these men had broken in and killed them, leaving Ainsley’s family’s money all to him in the inheritance. As she lay there, watching her father bleed out as she did the same on the cold floor, she was miraculously found by Nora who saved her life by turning her into a vampire. Ainsley insisted her father not be saved, but as she needed to feed and get revenge, she thought it best to do both at once. She hid herself and waited for her husband to enter the dining room, then attacked him for his betrayal. Both men were seen as victims of a group of thieves, and Ainsley now owned all the money for both her families.
From then on, Ainsley has been keeping herself as her top priority. She had always had a good eye for art, so she often bought artworks for a low cost from artists who would go on to be very popular, then sell the pieces for far more than she payed. She hasn’t really tried to make connections with other people, she can’t help but see the faces of those who hurt her in every human she meets. Instead, she see humans as small and insignificant, and instead keeps to herself.
Wanted Connections:
Descendant (Alyssa Noir): Ainsley had gone back to figure out where her daughter had ended up, then followed the family line. She got a habit of checking in on her descendants from afar, the only humans she has had a soft spot for.
