The Serrated Query is an organisation introduced in one of the early Dark Heresy books (Purge the Unclean) as an enemy group for the players to face. They are presented as a foil to the players' role as Inquisitorial acolytes as a sort of 'evil Inquisition '. They are something I don't think will show up in Dark Heresy, but it will be really funny if they do. This is because they aren't evil in the sense that they are Chaos-corrupted or have delved too deeply and been branded traitors to the Imperium (for the second one, we have the Phaenonites, who are really cool). No, the Serrated Query are evil in the sense that Owlman is evil Batman. They are a vast criminal network who seek to profit from various activities such as smuggling, extortion and the selling of drugs, slaves and xenos tech. The book describes them as a mercantile version of the Inquisition, and to further the 'dark mirror' aspect, they actively reject the dogma and superstitions of the Imperium, freely mingling with aliens, disputing the idea of machine spirits, and while they don't worship chaos, they do dabble and teach their members that daemons are merely extradimensional xenos. The funny part comes from how the book describes them as this radical group of cynical and open-minded free thinkers who reject the religion of the Imperium and look condescendingly on the fools who don't. Which, when I read this, unfortunately made them sound like a bunch of Reddit-tier atheists, and that's all I associate with them now.
