Since the end of the Formic War, it was difficult for Ender to fall asleep. Occasionally his mind and body were exhausted enough to allow him to drift off into sleep. But in that sleep, nightmares, memories, and thoughts plagued him. He would think about all the men and women who were killed in the fight. How many families were destroyed because of him. What he was supposed to do with the Hive Queen baby. Above all, how he annihilated a whole species. Each time, he woke up more exhausted than when he fell asleep.

By a few weeks, he could feel his head go a bit numb. (Or what he thought was weeks). It was hard for him to focus on anything. As he laid in his bed, looking up, he found that his mind wandered to Valentine. What was she thinking? Or more to the point, was she thinking about him? Despite not really needed attachment to people, Valentine was an exception. He missed her. 

Ender closed his eyes and tried to picture her face in his mind but found that each time his image of her seemed to change. It scared him that maybe one day he wouldn't even know what her face looked like. Tears started to fall down the corner of his eyes and he quickly covered his face with the pillow. 

Within a few minutes, without his knowledge, he had fallen asleep. 

Valentine? He called out when he saw the back of a girl with blonde hair. It was the same haircut Valentine had, but a little longer. Wait, what was she doing here? He quickly looked down at himself and he was wearing normal boy clothing for his age. When he looked back up, he was down on Earth again. Was this another one of his dreams?
