Ready, set, GO!

GISHWHES HAS TAKEN TUMBLR!

Do not attempt to adjust your Internet. We are controlling your dashboard. Misha Collins and GISHWHES (The Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen) have officially taken over Tumblr!

For the next 30 hours anyone who wants can join GISHWHES in working its way into the farthest reaches of the tumblrsphere, entering into the territory of some of your most dearly held celebrities as Misha Collins, GISHWHES, and you take over every space in the Tumblrverse creating art, kindness and mayhem..

We will do this through a massive online scavenger hunt that will challenge your wit, creativity, weirdness and your ability to throw caution and normalcy to the wind and truly experience the world around you in ways you never have before.

Oh yes - and there will be prizes! Lots and lots of prizes. There will also be a massive charitable component so we can do a lot of good while we’re making mischief.

Abandon complacency! Death 2 Normalcy! Embrace GISHWHES and join us for GISHWHES TAKES TUMBLR!

How does it work?

It’s easy! Just keep an eye on the gishwhes blog (officialgishwhes.tumblr.com). Misha will post creative tasks (“items”) every hour or two to be completed in a certain time frame. You complete them and then post them to Tumblr with certain tags. Then you’ll probably win prizes and get to give stuff to great charities! See more details below as there are some things you need to do to make sure we see your submissions!

30 Hours! I can’t play for 30 hours!

You don’t have to. You can complete as many items as you wish and play as long as you wish (and you can start playing at any point over the next 30 hours). Each item winner will get a prize and be able to select something wonderful for a charity in need. You could even just do 1 single item if you wish and try to win the prize.

What’s it cost?

Nothing! It’s free.

How do you determine the winner of each item?

The winning submission will be based on the following criteria: (1) quality of submission, (2) speed of submission (3) did the submission make the judges laugh, cry, or feel hungry, (4) and the general moods of our judges at the moment they see your submission. (Note: our judges were recently classified by “Judges Mood Analysis Classification of America” as the “Top Most Moodiestest Judges in North America” - we’re very proud of this). Do your best! But remember this is really about creating chaos on Tumblr, pushing your artistic boundaries and supporting some great charities!

I’m in. How do I sign-up? What do I do?

1. If you’re not a registered Tumblr user, go sign up at www.tumblr.com, then come back to officialgishwhes.tumblr.com to join us! You don’t have to register for anything else, pay a fee, give a blood sample, or anything else. You’re a Tumblr user and that’s good enough for us.

2, We’ll post an item on officialgishwhes.tumblr.com.

3, Follow the instructions to complete the stated item as requested. This might include making something, or doing something online or doing a thing out in the World. (Or it could be something else entirely. We don’t know. We just snuck in here and we’re making this up as we go!)

4. Post your submission as indicated on officialgishwhes.tumblr.com and any other blog or site that you may be directed to thereafter.

5. Tag your entries #gishwhestakestumblr and #gtt(number). For example, if the Item is Item #1, it would be tagged #gishwhestakestumblr and #gtt1. But don’t worry- every time we release an item, we’ll tell you what tags you should be using. Just make sure you use them or your submission won’t be counted and will be lost to the void of the Interwebs.

THIS IS IMPORTANT. If you don’t put your requested tags in the FIRST tags on the post, we might not see it  and you might not win a prize. That’s a tragedy we can easily avoid.  Just type  #gishwhestakestumblr and #gtt(number) as the first tags in every post you submit for consideration.

6. Respect the deadlines!

Each item will have a deadline which we will post. Make sure you post your item by the deadline in order for it to count for a prize.

7. Make sure your “asks” are on so if you won, we can reach out to you to get your contact information so we can send you your prize.

To summarize:

1. Be a registered Tumblr user, or sign up for Tumblr.

2. Watch for posts on officialgishwhes.tumblr.com

3. Follow the instructions to complete the stated ITEM as requested. Be creative! Creativity is key.

4. Post your completed item to Tumblr.

5. TAG that post #gishwhestakestumblr and #gtt(number). We’ll tell you which tags to use.

6. Make sure the first tags in your post are #gishwhestakestumblr and #gtt(number) or we won’t see it.

7. Post your submission by the deadline we state to be eligible to win the prize for that item.

8. Keep your “asks” open so we can reach you if you won.

The name of the game with this scavenger hunt is speed chaos creativity mayhem (it’s a really long name - so you can just call it “Bob” to keep it simple). We will post items periodically over the 30 hours and deadlines for submission may vary, but generally will be about 2 hours for each item (unless we feel like doing it differently). So make awesome submissions, but do it fast!

We will release multiple items at a time, so if you can’t do one thing, chances are you can do another.

4.PRIZES

Are there prizes? Oh yeah. There are prizes. We have a great big pile of CRAP (Completely Ridiculously Awesome Prizes) here with us at at GISHWHES mobile HQ and we’re eager to give it away to people like you.

Each item will have a winner. That means instead of having a single winner for the hunt (like the GISHWHES Hunt in August will), we’ll have dozens of winners. Each winner will receive a prize pack filled with crazy cool stuff including high end tech gear, fandom merch, and exclusive signed merchandise and props from television shows - this is CRAP you cannot get anywhere and will never be able to get anywhere else ever again.

A big reason I started this tumblr is because I wanted someone to catalogue all of Rae’s tshirts and I realised that that ‘someone’ was going to have to be me (because no one else is sufficiently anal retentive, apparently).
