After DMC5, the dimensional veil of the human world has a breach. This veil acts as a filter, or more accurately, it weakens impurities from other worlds to the point where they pose no threat to the world.

But now the barrier's power has diminished, allowing ordinary humans to perceive the intruder more clearly.

Dante and Vergil possess high-level demonic power; even with the barrier weakened, it can no longer stop the effects it has on humans.

People see these half-demon beings as encountering a cosmic god, experiencing hallucinations driven by instinct.
