Not Another Osomatsu-san Imagines Blog

Well, just off the bat, the Matsus would probably appreciate the fact they had that in common with them. They’d know it was something they could talk to their S/O about and that they’d “get it”.

I think especially Osomatsu and Todomatsu would probably bring up their families around their S/O quite a lot if they knew their S/O had also come from a large family, usually to complain but also because they consider their family such a large part of their identity (even if they might be in denial about it).

So if an S/O had a large family and the Matsus knew...

Osomatsu would probably constantly be talking about his brothers to his S/O, knowing they also came from a large family, both to complain but also to just tell them random stuff they did. He’s “proud” of his brothers in a sense, even though he probably wouldn’t describe it as that himself, and gives me the vibe of someone who would want to bring them up whenever he got the chance to. Like “oh my god, you’ll NEVER believe what Choromatsu did today, oh my god it was HILARIOUS”. If his S/O happened to also be the eldest of their siblings, he’d probably even drop his ego for a bit and ask for some advice on being a better “eldest”, or lots of talk about “being eldest”.

Todomatsu is embarrassed at the idea of being associated with his brothers on the surface, but deep down he clearly isn’t sure what he’d do without them, and he’d probably talk about them almost as much as Oso to an S/O. He’d vent about them quite a bit, but in that way where it was sort of obvious he didn’t hate them? Like his complaining would slowly become him just gushing about his brothers antics. I think he’d find comfort in the fact his S/O also had a large family, especially if they were also the youngest of their siblings.

As for the other four, I think that while they’d be glad they had an S/O that understood that aspect of their life to an extent, having also come from a large family, they probably wouldn’t bring up their brothers quite as much as one would expect. Karamatsu I feel would be way too focused on his S/O to even remember shit his brothers did, at least while talking to said S/O. It just seems like something he’d sort of forget to bring up because he’d be so fixated on the partner and want to focus all his energy on them. He might talk a bit more about it though if his S/O was venting about their own family and asked him how he felt about it, but he’d probably have to be directly asked.

Choromatsu seems pretty good at having his own life outside his brothers, even better than Todomatsu. Mostly because he utilizes the otaku subculture as his other “family”, but I feel like he wouldn’t really bring up his brothers shenanigans to his S/O unless it had been something REALLY bad/annoying to him. Plus, he’s probably anxious about the idea of worrying his partner even further by revealing too much about how his brothers are like.

Ichimatsu just isn’t much of a talker in general, especially not about personal stuff like family. He’d definitely be willing to talk about family stuff though if his S/O brought it up, but I could see him seeing the time he spends with his S/O as sort of a “break” from his brothers.

This is pretty open-ended but I’ll do my best! Lot’s of potential answers here so I apologize if it ends up being not as in-depth as it could be (I could go on for hours about Oso really...)

Osomatsu is a gooder boy than the fandom gives him credit for, so let me give my honest thoughts here.

Osomatsu as a Boyfriend At the start of the relationship, I could see there being a lot of uh, well, teaching moments with Oso, as well as reassuring him you’re okay with being his partner. Up until getting an S/O, Oso hadn’t really feel like he’d been good enough for one, that he would just be a disappointment. We can see in the season 3 ep where Nyaa asks him out that his emotional response was one of terror, and I feel like it’s because he’s terrified at the idea of someone interested in him actually finding out how “terrible” he is, or him being terrified that he wouldn’t be able to be a good boyfriend. It didn’t help either that both his friends and his entire family were basically throwing receipts and evidence at the potential love interest to try and scare her away from him, so I feel like his confidence in regards to dating is VERY low, maybe even more than Ichi’s.

He’s essentially convinced himself that nothing will ever really happen, which is why he makes so many lewd jokes and comments, he doesn’t think he has anything to lose.

At first, you’d probably have to tell him about things like boundaries, maybe give him some nudges every now and then about anything you might be uncomfortable with. He’s definitely a longterm investment for sure. But I think that once you guys had been dating for a few months without too many hiccups, and that it really felt like this wasn’t something that was gonna end or collapse, he’d start to open up more, become more sweet and thoughtful. Once he realizes “oh wait, this person actually really likes me? Even though they’ve seen me do all this stupid stuff?” he’d finally relax. 

I could see him being fine with dates that just consisted of going to a convenience store at 3 am, or acting dumb at the park at night, or even just saying home to watch a dumb movie. Simple things. That’s sort of  what he’s all about.

This might be a weird off-the-cuff take, but whenever I think of Osomatsu as a steady boyfriend, I think of the arc Rigby from Regular Show went through after he started dating Eileen.

Some examples in case people haven’t seen the show. Again, I know it’s a bit out there of a reference to make but it’s honestly the closest I’ve found in media to how I think Osomatsu would be as a longterm boyfriend. Weirdly emotionally mature and pretty chill/confident, it’d basically be like dating your best friend.

His love language, aside from physical affection and quality time, would be honesty. He wants someone he can tell everything to, even the less favorable bits. Though admittedly, sometimes he struggles with putting words to the things he’s actually feeling, so being honest with him about that would be helpful.

Overall, he’s not used to being genuinely liked, so I think if he was consistently and genuinely liked for awhile, you’d gain his trust and loyalty, and he’d feel pretty indebted to you, even if he never really said anything “cheesy” like that out loud.

Figure I may as well start this re-opening off with a classic! And something I've actually thought about quite a bit...

Osomatsu I always imagined that Osomatsu would want his proposal to be... Whenever it felt right, casual, spur of the moment, but probably something he had mulled over in his brain for awhile without saying anything out loud about it. I think the most romantic thing in his eyes is when people in a relationship can just say how they're feeling in the moment, without fear of judgement, so the idea of him just suddenly proposing in a convenience store, at his house, in the rain, just... Off the cuff... That seems fitting for him. And it's not because he doesn't care, it's just that his love language is honesty, 100%. 

He wants to know he can tell you whatever's on his mind and still have things work out. Sure, it wouldn't be very flashy or rehearsed, but it'd be him. And I think that's what he values most with scenarios like this. It's something he would just... Ask. Casually. With a smile. Any time, any place.

Karamatsu Karamatsu is the opposite of Osomatsu. For him, a proposal should be a grand gesture, something flashy and extravagant, something where he had made it clear he had spent the last 4 or 5 months working on it. He'd want something magnificent, something spectacular... A candlelit dinner for two at your favorite place, renting the whole restaurant or park or whatever to yourselves. Going on a really long speech/tangent about how much you mean to him, the getting on one knee, the opening the box, live music, maybe even a song by him, rose petals everywhere, doves carrying in flowers... At least that's how he likes to imagine it. 

I could also see him working really hard on all of this, and then it ending up messing up somehow and him being devastated, only to realize what really mattered was that his partner was happy just hearing something from his heart... Even without the theatrics... He'd probably cry, and then give an even more heartfelt proposal, a more intimate one. Choromatsu Choromatsu as stated is pretty "traditional" in his sensibilities. I could see him proposing in a park or somewhere with a nice view, and of course he would make sure to rehearse all of his lines and present you with a very sensible and standard ring. Of course, even with all that rehearsal, he'd be terrible at hiding what he was planning. He'd be even more stuttery and nervous than usual, even more tense and jumpy, sweating up a storm, his face beet red, his words jumbled. He'd probably dress himself up in his classic blue suit, offer to take you on a picnic somewhere secluded with a nice view, and then try to propose there by getting on his knee ect. 

Though it'd be pretty obvious what he was up to before the date even started... Especially with all the fumbling with the ring box he'd be doing whenever he thought you weren't looking, making sure it was still there, ect. His voice would keep cracking as well, he'd just sort of be all over the place in a mix of excitement and nerves. Ichimatsu Ichimatsu is... Complicated. He has a LOT of self-doubt, so doing something like trying to propose would probably be one of the biggest hurdles for him he'd ever have to face in his life. The potential of rejection, having to make such an incredibly important decision, the PRESSURE... I feel like he'd try to avoid proposing for as long as he could, even if he truly wanted to get married, just because the idea of proposing would psyche him out that badly. Ideally, his partner would be the one to propose to him, as this is something he'd really struggle with, but if it did end up having to be him, he'd probably do a more... Erratic version of what Osomatsu does. 

You both happen to be somewhere secluded and he's acting like he's ill, and you keep asking if he's fine and he keeps nodding but there's clearly something wrong until eventually he just blurts out, "DOYOUWANNAGETMARRIED?!" in an almost pained shriek before immediately passing out. Jyushimatsu Jyushimatsu is pretty unconventional with most things he does, but I think he'd take proposing pretty seriously. I keep remembering how he confessed his love intensely and seriously in that one episode, and I feel like it'd be the same case for a proposal. Like you would both be having a nice time, having fun outside, doing your favorite things to do together as a couple... But then slowly things start to wind down, and Jyushi starts acting more introspective and speaking in a more "normal" tone, he even closes his mouth sometimes as he looks out at the pond, or wherever you two are. 

There's a long moment of silence, but it's not an awkward one, it's a comfortable one... Before he turns to you, says your name, and then slowly gets on one knee, banging out his proposal like a pro, his voice calm and quiet, though maybe the tiniest hint of weepiness. I think this is something he would take pretty seriously, and would want to make it clear how serious he was. Todomatsu As stated, Totty is like Choro in that he likes when things are traditional but in a more modern sense. You don't have to worry about any flash mob proposals because he's clearly not a fan of the trend, but I can't help imagining him proposing in a way that fit a specific "aesthetic" and "theme". For example, I could see him going someplace to eat with you that was still somewhat secluded with like trendy foods and things, low lighting, cafe jazz playing on the speakers... 

After a long break, I decided to open this blog up again because I genuinely miss writing and talking about the Matsu brothers...

Osomatsu

Hm, how do I word this in a way that’s still PG-13? I know you said “aside from the lips” but... I think he would really like kissing on the lips. If not that, then getting to kiss at your neck or jaw. He’s a big fan of any sort of physical affection, especially stuff that would imply a romantic relationship.

As for receiving... Sorry if this is a cheap answer, but I honestly think he’d love everything and want to be kissed everywhere. Like he’d eat it up. He’s very easy to please.

Karamatsu

I think Kara would enjoy kissing hands and sort of fixating on that area. Like hand, wrist, arm... Probably up the arm to the shoulder at some point; really hamming it up like that. But for the most part, the hands, as any gentleman would.

In terms of receiving kisses... I think anything on his face. Whether it’s his forehead or his cheek, I think he’d be touched at the idea someone was enjoying his face... And also him.

Choromatsu

Choromatsu is a very tense kisser from the get-go, very stiff and rehearsed. He’d probably find hand kisses too “old fashioned” though and would instead opt for a very quick, tense kiss on your cheek, which would of course take a lot of his nerves to build up.

As for receiving, I think Choromatsu would like to be kissed on the forehead. For some reason this came easier to me than the others, he just really strikes me as the sort of guy who wants to be kissed on the forehead.

Ichimatsu

I feel like Ichimatsu would be pretty nervous about actually attempting to kiss you at first. Like he might share a chaste, first kiss on the lips with you and then seem too nervous to try again. Once he got more comfortable with the idea and used to it, I could see him kissing your cheek a lot, very soft kisses on the cheek when you two were alone.

As for receiving, he’d probably be pretty unused to the idea at first, but after becoming more comfortable I could see him liking... Well, cheek kisses, anywhere on the body that would be soft, like belly or cheek.

Jyushimatsu

Jyushimatsu... Another “cheap” answer, but he’d want to kiss EVERYWHERE. He’s kind of sloppy and has trouble focusing on one spot to kiss, wanting to get every part. He has no true preference as long as he’s getting to kiss his S/O.

Receiving is the same, he’d have no real preference, happy to be kissed everywhere and anywhere. Though he might especially like the idea of you kissing his muscles as a way to compliment them.

Todomatsu

Todomatsu would try to keep things cute but also casual, something you’d see a pretty normal couple doing. Sweet little cheek kisses, maybe little pecks on the nose, anything that would seem saccharine but also normal.

Aww, very cute! I hope these don’t seem too short, but I imagine they’d all have pretty straightforward responses.

Osomatsu

“Cute? Y’Think so? Don’t think I’ve had anyone call me that before, haha!”

Osomatsu would sheepishly rub the back of his head and blush, shrugging his shoulders. He’d probably be genuinely surprised about being called “cute”, as it’s not something he hears often or expects to hear. He’d be flattered though, and probably find ways to tease you about calling him cute later.

Karamatsu

“C-Cute?! .... Heh.. I suppose... I could also... Be cute... Yes...”

I feel like out of all of them, Karamatsu would probably feel a little insecure about being called “cute”, especially since he tries so hard to appear “manly” and “handsome”. He wouldn’t be upset with you though and would appreciate the sentiment for what it was, but there might be times where he’d try to fish a “sexy” or “manly” or “handsome” out of you instead. I imagine he doesn’t want to feel like his high school self too much again. 

Choromatsu

“I’m Wh- WHAT? Ah- I... W-Wasn’t expecting that... Sh-Shouldn’t I be saying that about you? ................ You really think I’m cute?”

At first Choromatsu would be a sputtering and stuttering mess, opening his mouth to talk but unable to find any words, too flustered to speak. Once he got over it though, he’d probably try to save face by acting like he should’ve said it instead but of course... After a long pause, he would quickly start fishing for more compliments from you. He secretly (or perhaps not so secretly) loves to be called cute or be given cute nicknames.

Ichimatsu

“...Wh-What? .... Mrmm... I’m the farthest thing from cute...”

Ichimatsu tries his best not to react at all, but it’s clear through his blushing, sweating, stammering, and shifty eyes that it clearly affected him. He’d probably try to brush it off and deny it at first, going on about how he “wasn’t cute”, things along those lines. But I imagine with enough compliments about him being cute, he’d eventually fold and just accept them... Even if they flustered him really badly. He would still try to act casually too, but he has a lot of little giveaways I listed above.

Jyushimatsu

“I AM? YOU’RE CUTE!”

He’d probably laugh and make that happy little face he does when he shuts his eyes and smiles, and give a simple but enthusiastic reply. He wouldn’t mind being called cute at all really, I don’t think any of the younger three would. He’d definitely make sure to call you cute right back too, to make it even. His reaction would actually be pretty normal.

Todomatsu

I’ll give each brother their own little way of finding the fairy too! Hopefully this is what you meant?

Osomatsu

I imagine that Osomatsu wouldn’t think to water a dying plant if he saw one on the roadside. Not because he hates plants or anything, but because I don’t feel like he’d really pick up on something like that? Or care. I think for him, he’d have to first find out that flower fairies were even a thing, either through one of his brothers or the tv, or something like that. Once he did though, I imagine he’d go look for a flower to water (most likely using a half-empty water bottle), and squat and wait and see.

When it didn’t work immediately, he’d get impatient and leave, assuming it was a fake legend only to be genuinely surprised the next morning when one actually showed up. He’d probably assume they were his S/O now, though whether or not they agree is up to them.

Karamatsu

Well, since Karamatsu was a bit tipsy the first time (I assume), maybe he’ll have a better chance sober? I can’t imagine he’d be eager to try getting another flower fairy, so if anything, he’d be the most avoidant. The only way I could see him getting another one was if he accidentally spilled water on a dying plant somehow... And then was horrified and tried to go into hiding. Like he’d be dreading whatever showed up the next morning.

I think even if a very nice flower fairy appeared, he’d be pretty cautious and wary, not wanting a repeat of the last time. He’d be very avoidant and try to hide in closets and things maybe? The fairy would have to try to get him to open up in a nice way.

Choromatsu

Choromatsu definitely found out about the flower fairy legend from some kind of book or show about folklore or something, something he was busying himself with to seem refined. He’d be intrigued I imagine and would probably go look for a plant to water pretty quickly, though I imagine he’d also be pretty skeptical, like embarrassed he was actually trying this.

When no immediate results happen, he figures it was just a fairy tale and returns home. He goes on to his brothers about how it’s not good to chase fairy tales. The next morning, upon meeting the flower fairy, he’d instantly be enamored, taking back everything he said about “chasing fairy tales” and claiming he said no such thing and knew they were real all along. He’d probably also assume they were dating now, though it’d be up to the flower fairy.

Ichimatsu

I think out of all of them, Ichimatsu is the most likely to water a plant of his own volition, without realizing it had some sort of legend attached to it. Like if he was by himself (and he’d make doubly sure) he would definitely water a plant that looked like it was suffering. There’s quite a bit of evidence in tabi skits at least that Ichimatsu genuinely cares about things like plants and animals.

As a result, he’d be the most surprised by the flower fairy and probably react pretty similarly to how Chibita did? Disbelief? Dismissive? He’d probably figure it was too good to be true or that there was some sort of catch. It would take him awhile to believe for certain, probably longer than the fairy can be around.

Jyushimatsu

Jyushimatsu is a bit of a wild card so... He probably waters a flower unintentionally by just being himself? His water trick maybe? I feel like out of all of them he’d be asking the least amount of questions and just rolling with it like, “Oh! Sure! Ok!”, since I imagine he wouldn’t feel like he had anything to lose.

Even once the fairy showed up, he’d probably treat it like it was a normal thing like, “what?? you guys have never seen fairies?”, that sort of thing.

Todomatsu

I think he’d probably be the most skeptical about a flower fairy legend, even moreso than Choromatsu. He’d bring logic into it, mentioning how it all seemed too easy, that there had to be some kind of catch or some sort of reason, that no one got anything for free... So I’m not sure how he’d end up with one. He’d probably have to do it by accident like Karamatsu, though he probably wouldn’t realize that he did.

I think, first of all, that he’d be able to relate and empathize. I feel like he has some abandonment trauma of his own when he realized the “friends” he had in high school he was trying so desperately to be accepted by saw him and his brothers as a joke. Even when he tried to distance himself from his brothers to try and appease them, he still couldn’t quite “fit in”. There’s also the immense guilt he felt at causing ESP Kitty to run away and spent the entire day searching for him through garbage and dirt... So I think he wouldn’t take those concerns lightly. 

While he might not be the best at expressing his feelings outwardly, I think the little things he would do to show you that you matter to him and that he’s not going anywhere would really come through. It might be as simple as him taking a moment to verbally remind you that he’ll be coming back if he goes out, or it could be as intimate as him wanting to cuddle with you often if he senses your trauma and fears coming back. Again, he’s very much like a cat in this regard, and he’ll probably have a good sense of how much or how little he should be involving himself based on whatever your mood is at the time.

Hmm, well I think they’d all be a little surprised... I guess it depends on how frequent of a thing this is, like if this had been the first time ever or if it had been the second time and onwards. I’ll assume you mean first time in my responses... Though admittedly this ask is a little “sadder” than I’m used to...

Osomatsu

I think Osomatsu would be surprised, but not enough that it would affect him too deeply like Ichimatsu. He’d probably yell back like, “What!? Since when did you yell!?” and get all huffy and storm off to stew. However, since it wouldn’t affect him too much, I think he’d eventually come back wanting to “water under the bridge” it. I think if you apologized when he was feeling better, he’d be pretty quick to forgive and want to move on and not make a big deal of it. He’d probably throw in some brutal self-honesty about how he’s been known to respond too harshly in situations like that.

Karamatsu

It’s hard for me to imagine Karamatsu annoying his S/O on purpose, so I think he’d probably feel pretty bad and ashamed for having caused you to snap like that, especially if you’re usually quiet and sweet. He’d immediately be very apologetic and would probably act scared or submissive as he usually does when presented with someone who’s yelling at him. He’d assume he was the one in the wrong 100% and do his best to appease you... Not exactly a healthy response, so I would hope S/O would explain to him that they were the ones that messed up.

Choromatsu

Oh he’d be shocked, but like Osomatsu, he wouldn’t be having it. This guy’s got a nasty temper so he’s not just going to sit and let himself get yelled at unless it’s someone he doesn’t know very well. He’d yell right back and probably spend some time lecturing you on how yelling didn’t solve anything... As he was yelling. I think though this only applies if he did something that caused you to yell that he didn’t think was “yell-worthy”.

Because I will also add the potential scenario of him causing you to yell when you otherwise wouldn’t by genuinely being incredibly annoying in his nagging or “rising”. If that was the case, I think he would actually clam up and be pretty apologetic. If it was something he knew deep down he was genuinely guilty for, he’d cave.

Ichimatsu

I think Ichimatsu would probably be the most bothered/caught off guard of all of them. As we know, he’s a bit fragile and sensitive. I think getting yelled at period is enough to scare him off a bit, so getting suddenly yelled at by an S/O he had believed to be quiet would definitely wig him out. You might have to work to regain his trust afterwards or provide a REALLY good apology, because otherwise I could definitely see him being thrown off to the sudden change, and not in a good way. I don’t think he’d be honest with you about how he felt either, acting like “it’s fine... it’s fine” when really deep down he’s super hurt, so you’d have to know to tell him that it “wasn’t fine” how you acted.

Jyushimatsu

I think he’d be surprised, but like Osomatsu, not too bothered. He tends to be pretty loud himself though if he had an S/O that was usually quiet suddenly yelling at him, I think he’d back off and give them some space before engaging further. There’s a wiser side to him that seems to know when to back off from conflict until both parties are calmer and he doesn’t seem too easily shaken by things like this, not that he can’t get shaken by something catching him off guard (ep 24 anyone?), but I don’t think he’d be quite as shaken if it was just someone yelling at him that hadn’t previously done so before.

Todomatsu

I think as long as you’re making some sort of money, they Matsus would be perfectly happy with whatever you were doing. The only exception to this I can think of is Choromatsu, but even then I think he’d be fine eventually since he only pretends to be a prude to save face.

Well, since this is a blog about positivity, I think the answer is obvious here. They’d be happy to have any sort of S/O. Having someone to love them is something all of them strive desperately for.

But even if we use evidence of their personalities from the show itself, the Matsus (except for maybe Choromatsu) all seem pretty open-minded and sort of go against the grain of “convention” and “societal constructs”. Even Choromatsu who can sometimes be a slave to conformity never truly has his whole heart in it, no matter how much he likes to tell people he does.

Ahh, this one is very relatable... That feel when you are a Karamatsu Stan with the disposition of a sad stoic... I had to think hard on this one since I struggle with it a little myself.

I think since Karamatsu used to be a bit sad and introverted himself, he’d be able to empathize. He definitely knows what it’s like to be dealing with a sad event at least, like when the brothers were drifting from each other in high school. It’s also clear he tends to hide how he’s feeling in the effort of avoiding confrontation or heavy topics, but it’s also clear that he’ll be honest with someone that asks him directly or someone he trusts deeply. So I think that if Karamatsu had an S/O that was prone to sadness or was stoic and distant in trying to cope with it, he’d still reach out as much as he could. He’d try to bring them out of their comfort zone, compliment them, make them thoughtful gifts, do pretty much anything in his power to get them to smile or feel better.

While I sort of hate making the comparison (I swear, I’m talking platonically here ONLY), the way he continues to try and reach out to Ichimatsu despite his aloofness is a pretty good indicator of the sort of person he is when it comes to people like that. So I think if he had an S/O that was also aloof, it might actually act as a form of enrichment in the relationship as he’d have something he was striving for: making his S/O smile or feel better or blush, ect, since they normally don’t.

Aww, thank you so much! That means a lot... Also this question is fine! Actually I think you picked the two Matsus who would respond to it the best! But I’ll go into more detail.

Karamatsu

I think you’d actually have a hard time finding a situation where Karamatsu wasn’t trying to reciprocate or reach out, or seemed like he was being distant. He’d probably be even more attentive and doting than he already is if he found out his s/o had abandonment issues. Karamatsu is naturally very much a caregiver, and not only that, but he’ll do just about anything you ask, especially for an s/o. Because he’s so naturally doting and prone to spoiling his s/o, again, it’s hard for me to imagine a situation where he’d act distant enough to trigger the anxiety.

If for whatever reason that did happen (maybe he got sick or went through something extra difficult?) I think he’d immediately feel really bad that he accidentally left you alone for that long and would start being EXTRA attentive and adoring. I think though, even for people with abandonment issues, he’d have a hard time not constantly drowning you in affection.

Jyushimatsu

I actually headcanon that Jyushimatsu also has abandonment issues, though unlike the generalized kind that Osomatsu has, his is more focused on romantic partners. The one time that Jyushimatsu found someone he loved, she effectively left the second he told her, which most likely caused some serious emotional anxieties regarding s/o’s and abandonment.
