One of the sweetest things is when you post a new work on AO3 and then one of your old works gets a comment because it means that somebody read the new thing and liked it so much that they went and checked what other stuff you wrote and they liked that enough to tell you about it and I just think that is so fucking precious!! thank you thank you thank you to the people who do that, keep doing it it's the best feeling as an author

Update on the possums for those who are curious…

We had to go out and buy our own traps. The wildlife removal guys were charging us $70 per release. So now we own 2 live catch traps.

Almost 2 weeks ago, I was minding my own business in the basement. Movement caught my eye so I looked up at the top of the wall. What did I see?

A baby possum. Like… the size of a 4 month old kitten.

It stared at me, I stared at it. I called Mom to tell her there was a baby possum in the basement.

It’s been almost 2 weeks. We’ve caught 15 and number 16 is currently trying to eat the cat food in the kitchen…

my favorite thing about this post is that a handful of people have gone "oh wait! this is tangible proof that i don't need to be embarrassed about leaving a lot of comments!! i'll stop being so ashamed!" YES!! ao3 authors basically universally will die for people who comment spam. we love to see it and we do not find you weird or annoying At All.

think about it this way: we ourselves are weird enough to have spent several hours, days, or Months writing down this story. we are weird enough about the content to do that! why on Earth would we be mean and judgmental toward people who care enough to get excited about reading it?? we shared it Specifically For You To Get Excited About!

Lexa wasn’t sure how to respond to that. She blinked owlishly, trying to kickstart her brain into forming an answer. Finally, she smoothed sweaty strands of hair back from her wife’s forehead. “My love, that’s just not how this works. You know that.”

“Oh. So now you’re telling me what I know?”

Blowing out a breath, Lexa quite literally bit her tongue to stop herself from laughing. “No, Clarke. I just mean that this isn’t something we can undo.”

“In other words,” Raven cut in, wincing as Clarke shouted and squeezed her hand again, “No takesies backsies on the baby. No returns allowed.”

For a long moment, there was no talking. Clarke hissed and groaned and shouted and glared at her wife.

Once she relaxed again, Lexa pressed a kiss to the corner of her lips. “I know this seems never ending but you’re doing so well!”

“The next time Xander asks for a baby sister,” Clarke groaned and shook her head sleepily, “It’s your turn, Lex. I’m a one and done for experiencing the miracle of birth!”
