i donât know if anyone has already made this post, but i have thoughts on why the more recent seasons of love is blind have featured some truly bizarre people.
when the minneapolis season was airing, a cousin of one of the participants made a TikTok and im gonna do my best to paraphrase.
basically in these cities that have populations of less than a million, itâs actually hard to find people who donât already have prior knowledge of each other. obviously the cities are too big for everyone to know each other, but cities like denver and minneapolis donât have nearly the amount of night life and people that new york or la have. if you are someone who goes out a lot, or has a large social circle, chances are youâve probably seen a lot of the eligible dating pool, whether it be at one of the popular bars, or through a mutual friend, or on social media. and it may have only been in passing, but the chance that youâll recognize someone is there. so the people that end up getting cast are just weirder, because they had to find people who for whatever reason are less likely to already know what the other contestants may look like. so people who arenât as socially adept, or theyâre from further out in the suburbs and are more conservative, or whatever the case may be.
my caveat to all this is that i think thereâs a little recency bias here. i just recently watched all of love is blind for the first time and the people have always been weird. no one goes on this show if they donât need help finding a partner. like did yall already forget about giannina and damon?? jessica and mark?? of course some couples were clearly in it for the right reasons and did well, and this season seems to have less of that (if any couples get married Iâll be shocked.) but it is truly not new for the people in this show to be weird as hell.
