sometimes i think about the fact that the montreal canadiens locker room has a motto and an entire ceremonial bit based off a line from a poem about world war 1. and its about our hockey team now because we said so đđđ (ok but if you're actually interested in why, here's a great article)

it's a motto in the locker room. has been for years in all the different upgraded versions:
like, look at that. this is what the locker room looks like right now. this is what's in the middle of on the inside rim but centered. right above the logo. look at it, read it.
and then, of god that fucking torch. the torch. they have an entire ceremony. young and promising players and captains are quite literally handed the torch
ken dryden (rest in peace, you absolute fucking champion), one of the best habs goalies is here, handing over the goalie who was one of the best of his generation and the cornerstone of the org during the home opener

the opener either starts or ends with a projection of the rink surface being taken over by the fire
