While this totally applies to other marginalized groups, I’d like to remind everyone House is specifically talking about an autistic child here.
Remember that.

okay this reminded me of the strongest human being (I use that label with some reservation) I have ever met and I still think about him like once a week because about 4 years ago on Thanksgiving night my sister, cousin, and I were going to pick up a friend about a 40 minute drive from home, and I got lost and tried to turn around on a little gravel pull-off on the side of the road, but my front tires got stuck in the snow.
we were in the middle of nowhere with no cell reception, and the only sign of life was a single, completely dark house across the road from us.
We all did our best to push the car out, and we’re strong people, but we couldn’t make it budge. Cold and stuck, we climbed back and wondered what to do. A car full of men pulled over beside us and asked if we needed help, but getting out of our locked car on a backroad at night with strange men felt like a bad idea, so we said a tow was coming and waved them along. We did that twice before finally deciding our only option was to accept the next offer for help and just risk it,
when a man came out of the house across the street.
He’d clearly been watching us and figured out why we’d been lying to people, which really surprised me & he said “it’s okay, you can stay in your car and keep the doors locked. Just start backing up when I say so.”
I had the window cracked and told him “it’s too stuck. There’s no way we’re getting out. Could you call a tow?”
And he said “just back up when I say so.”
So he walked around the front of the car, squatted, and said “okay back up,”
and I did, and
he lifted
the front of the car Into The Air. Off its front wheels, and we backed up while he essentially wheel-barrowed us back onto the road.
And we were honest to god yelling. We couldn’t help it. We just yelled until all four wheels were back on the ground and he was waving us off while we thanked him.
And then I looked at my sister and cousin & said “he REALLY told us we can KEEP our doors locked as if THAT WOULD’VE FUCKING STOPPED HIM!!!! As if he couldn’t have just RIPPED EM OFF THE HINGES.”
I later looked up the weight of my car, and it’s 3200 pounds without anything or anyone in it.
This haunts me.
Gonna read some of Unquestionable Love today because I’ve been missing that world so much.
Oh I need to read this again ! Maybe for holidays
I’ve reread the series many times and each time I discover something new I love about it.
I’m early in the original when Hailey and Severus are at odds with each other and ugh it hurts so much but it’s pieced back together beautifully.
It hurts so good, right? :) Yes you are making me want to reread is so I will have to do that soon!
Yay :) I’m at the point where they made up but he’s still keeping secrets and really sick and it’s hurting my heart. @crmediagal
Oh yes ! It hurts he heart doesn’t it? I’m slow to reading but I have got to the part where they have discovered Jeannie’s a little prodigy. :)
She is such a cutie! I don’t think I can pick a favorite of the Snape girls. :)
I’m reading really slowly at this point, trying to savor each chapter. I’ve gotten to the tough part between the family and the Death Eaters. My heart is constantly being ripped to shreds.
Anyway where are you at in your rereading @sevmione-blog?
I’ve surpassed Chapter 50 and have been an emotional wreck.
I’ve just gotten past the Christmas party bit and onto the DEs. I’m an emotional wreck too haha!
I love this story, too! @severussnapesupport I know what you mean about missing that world, this is one of the few fics I re-read because I just love that family so much. I was so happy when @crmediagal put out a new chapter!
@snapes-many-buttons It’s nice to meet someone else who appreciates these stories as much as I do. They’re grossly underrated and I will always sing CRMediaGal’s praises for creating such a wonderful, warm world for Severus Snape and SSHG that I want to live in and revisit. I’m grateful the saga continues through her “Untold Stories” and hopefully a new story or two in the future.
@sevmione-blog Aw no! You’re getting the nitty, gritty parts! I’m on pins and needles every time I read those chapters.
I finished Chapter 50 and 51 the other day and cried so hard!
Those are killer chapters. I have the Epilogue yet to read and while I know there’s so much more in the series to reread, I don’t want the original to end. I’m dragging it out lol.
I’ve just finished the trial. So sad and angsty ! I understand. I’m reading it slow too !
I finished it last night!!! My heart wasn’t ready!!! 😭😭😭😭
Thank god for the Prequel and all of her other wonderful one-shots about the Snape family!!!
Ahhh I recently finished it too ! My heart! 😭
I’m going to move onto the prequel next. Have you started yet @severussnapesupport
I’M ABOUT TO!!!! :D
I forgot to link!!! >:(
Anyway, go read it guys (the whole series and all of her other Snape/SSHG stories too!!):

It doesn't really matter who I am, I'm so sorry for barging in so suddenly again. Please take good care of yourself. And I really do pray that your parents' minds will be more open and understanding. (That might not be your biggest concern now but I felt a certain burden to pray for that.) But in the meantime I really just want to tell you that you are a treasure, Gilliane, one being made more precious by the heats, cools, heights, depths, pressures you go through.
Thought I replied to this, but still wondering who you are, haha. I hope you're doing okay. And thank you for this. Please don't apologise for sending it over. It helped back then, and it helps seeing this again.
Hi, Gill, you are loved, and treasured. I'm sure you'll never remember me, but I am thankful for the opportunity to hear the things you say -- not to me directly, but to the world. The things you've said, whether as a post or as a reply helped a great deal, and I just wanted you to know that I'm always cheering you on -- even if you don't know me at all. You are loved. Come home, Gill, come home to where your heart really is, and I hope you find joy in that place.
Who... who are you? Please let me know who you are. I'm glad I've helped you, and... I needed this a lot, tonight. It's been really rough the past couple months. Unbelievable rough. This helped a lot. Thank you, so, so, so much.
Mutuals if you are leaving Tumblr (ever for any reason) please let me know where else I might find you so we can remain in contact.

6 Side Effects of Toxic Parenting
When Rapunzel left the tower and the evil witch she thought was her mother, she stepped into freedom and found adventure. But despite her escape, when she looks back, there will be an irreversible damage that lingers. Healing from dysfunctional families hurts. There’s no way around it. Even when you leave them and find another home elsewhere, you’re still carrying the weight of emotional baggage that scars you for life.
I don’t think it ever gets easier, but the best part about life is that we have the ability to create what we want from it. We can still do the things we love and go on. Healing comes from a place of understanding. If you grew up from a toxic background, we want to shed light on patterns and situations that are hard to understand, mainly because it’s painful. Psych2Go shares with you 6 side effects of toxic parenting:
1. You have a higher risk of developing an anxiety disorder.
When you grow up in a dysfunctional family, you’re at a higher risk of developing an anxiety disorder. According to a study done in 1998, researchers discovered that people who are exposed to toxic parenting on a consistent basis are more likely to develop generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), regardless of whether they were young or in their adulthood. Out of the 940 adults who participated in the study, researchers found that…

I know there’s a lot of tension after Tumblr’s new policy annouced for December 17th, but reblog this if you aren’t leaving Tumblr so that other blogs can know they aren’t going to be completely alone!
VAN EYCK
I lost it at the end.
Okay, I had to check out the Van Eyck thing. I was a bit in denial because, come on, every single person can’t look like President Putin!
There are no words to describe how wrong I was.
It was bad enough to realise that your life is a work of fiction. But it was truly awful to realise that the author is 12.
That’s your first thought anyway. You watch the world bloom around you in short bursts and think that you’re fucked. You think that there’s no way that you’re going to be able to live the sort of life you always imagined for yourself. You think that this is all that there will ever be in your world; a decent setting, unsettling exclamations, and so many plot holes that you’ve been to a psychiatrist twice to get checked for memory problems. You think your life is going to be inconsistent, sloppy and incomprehensible.
You’re wrong.
After a year, you notice that there are more people in your life. Your job isn’t solely populated by your boss, the secretary and the janitor who killed your best friend five years ago (which you can’t remember). Now there’s a woman named Mary-lee in the cubicle next to yours and a man named Gonzalez who works in a whole other department. Your company only had one department last year. Now it’s got two.
You stop shouting quite so much and you stop feeling the need to smirk every time you see someone making a fool of themselves. Your words are more reasoned now, more natural, and you find your conversations lasting longer with your new coworkers and neighbors. Your city grows, suburbs springing up overnight. The trees start losing their leaves in the fall and it’s not always night time when bad news arrives.
Your eyes aren’t orbs anymore, they’re just eyes.
When you run into your estranged brother in the hall of your apartment building, you wait for the ridiculous explanation for why he’d move in with you. Maybe every other house in the city is full? Maybe he didn’t know you lived there? Maybe it just “be like that sometimes?”
Turns out he’s not moving in. The woman he’s dating lives two doors down and he’s just as surprised as you. Small world.
Yes, it’s a bit contrived. Yes, it’s a little out of the blue. But, you realize, that’s how stories go. Sometimes they’re out of the blue. Making the out of the blue seem normal? That’s the mark of a true storyteller.
They’re getting better, you realize, watching your brother walk away. A lot better.
They’ve been writing your life everyday. You don’t know why you didn’t think about that. Of course they’re getting better. Through plot struggles and unpleasant writer’s block, they’ve stuck with you and your story.
Through everything, every shred of doubt, every shiny new idea, every criticism, they’ve stuck with you. They’ve worked hard to build your life around you. They’ve put in the time to get better, to give you better dialogue and a brilliant place to live and an exciting life.
They’ve grown for you.
Thank the author that you were lucky enough to grow with them.
Beautiful.

You are a clumsy but sweet person living in a time where robots are commonplace and do most manual tasks for humans. They can’t speak, but every time you bump into one you profusely apologize. You also always say thank you and treat them kindly, despite being inanimate. One morning, you wake up and peek out your window to see chaos and destruction- and your house and front yard are in pristine shape.
I watch the onslaught from the parted blinds of my window. The flames dance amongst the dead, an endless game of chase to those unlucky enough to still be alive. Cars and houses have been abandoned, already destroyed and burned to a black char. Dread grips me as the stench of death and burnt flesh reaches my nostrils, a sickening, gut-wrenching feeling that only the victims of the world’s deepest horrors could ever understand. With whatever strength I have, I look back at my own robot, sat atop my coffee table seemingly oblivious to the merciless slaughter outside. My mouth opens, and for the first time in what felt like hours, I speak.
“This is so sad, Alexa play despacito.”
beautiful.
“I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it.”
— Maya Angelou, Letter to My Daughter
