One thing that domestically incompetent people will never understand is that it’s not the million and one tiny things they get nagged about that are actually the problem.

It’s the complete overarching disregard for the way their usage of the home affects others.

If you are overall a considerate person who makes use of shared spaces thoughtfully, then it isn’t an issue if you occasionally leave stuff out or forget to do something. Most people around you will understand that we’re not all perfect.

But if you are consistently living in a way that causes other people to have to clean up after you, regularly acting without considering how what you’re doing affects others in your house and their day to day lives, then no, no one is going to be understanding about the small things; at that point, every little slight is just another example of your complete lack of empathy.

So then, yeah, every small little slight DOES matter, and IS important, because you have zero established trust to rely on when you do need a little break.
