high school is a place that needs everybody in categories and if they could place you into one it would be the a classic dumb bitch who happens to be the captain of the cheer team because of the the inexplainable talent for flipping around in the air ,memorising routines faster than most and the eye for style.
and if that category scheme could fall onto billie she'd be one of the losers. she's an a student but not acceptable enough to be in their clique due to her being off brand when it came to her style and the way she carried herself. she wasn't one to brag about her grades or enter competitions for her resume for college she just wasn't in anyone's league but her own.
so how you and her even start to date starts as a joke. at least, that’s what everyone thinks when you strut up to billie eilish.
yeah, that billie, the reclusive nerd with the oversized hoodie, noise-canceling headphones, and a near obsessive love for astrophysics and ask her out in the middle of the cafeteria.
you twirl the tips of your hair while chewing some mint gum. anybody else would think it was just you chewing gum but no you were regulating how nervous you actually were.
billie eyes are wide and she nearly drops her calculator. she doesn't know if she's speechless because you out of all people want her or the fact that you were willingly speaking to her while knowing her name.
people are in shock and gasping at the scene most eyeing some jock who you couldn't care less about. but you don't find it surprising that you have feelings for her, not really. there were multiple moments the school loser gave you to fall for her.
there was the toilet incident where you panicked about not having a tampon or pad with you and billie was there star struck but her brain worked faster running to the office to ask for one before returning and giving it to you.
you hugged her while showering her with a lot of thank yous leaving her flustered and barely functioning,
another time where you didn't know anything during a test and were visibly stressing but then the lord blessed you with billie swapping your papers and doing it for you of-course making sure to get some answers wrong.
you got the highest mark you've ever gotten on that test and the teacher even praised you.
the late night friday games when you had to perform out in the cold breeze for the football team outside on the field with skimpy outfits . when the game ended and the other cheerleaders had gone home and you were still out performing captain duties while shivering like crazy mysteriously billie was there offering you one of her hoodies. it was black with some pattern that definitely did not fit your style but you accepted it with a smile.

you’ve got a dozen secret admirers which makes her feel a bit small when she sees all the notes you get in your locker the one time you opened it in-front of her and watched them pour out. you notice rather quickly and dispose of all of them in the nearest trash can before yelling how you don't want anymore rubbish in your locker for people to hear.
loser billie starts watching romcom movies and not her usual sci-fi films just because she noticed it was one of the main thigs you watched when she came over your house that one time.
loser billie who starts to warm up to you and your affection through saying the most devastatingly honest things.
like when you show up and sit next to her in the cafeteria filling the empty space ,she's been used too, wearing all pink and smelling like a burst of flowers she shifts closer.
''you smell nice that's why I'm getting closer to you'' she admits but her eyes are not looking at you.
''why aren't you looking at me when you say it ?'' you ask a pout forming on your glittery lips
she freezes her fork sitting still in her food before she takes a deep breath and looking at you nervously ''I can't handle eye contact with you yet you make my heart beat at an unnatural pace''

loser billie who spent most of her time in the library either studying or reading but now she did all that with you sitting next to her in your cheer unifrom all because you wanted to keep her company. you start even holding her other hand and it surprises her enough to send her spiraling because her brain is a galaxy you frequently orbit nowadays.
loser billie has never been loved out loud before so you made sure you did. you sometimes picked her up from her house while your car is loud with pop music you often told her to listen to because they expressed how you felt about her. you'd wave good morning to whichever one of her parents came outside with her before giving them coffee you bought and handing billie her boba tea. you'd give billie your cheer hoodie for her to wear when you went to cheer competitions which she'd be so proud to wear you caught her taking a picture in it once . you held hands almost everywhere around the school you even sat on her lap sometimes if she came over to your table.
loser billie who's clingy in a way that’s endearing and a little bit obsessive. when you're alone wants to cuddle and watch whatever as long as she's near you. who dislikes when the cheer team has to run towards the football team to celebrate a win because they always end up picking you up s some time of trophy. who'll start yapping about her astrophysics obsession whenever she's nervous and she did that one time when you started changing infront of her making you laugh. she memorizes your routines while waiting for you at your practices, walks you to every class even if it’s in the opposite direction of her class.

and when you kiss her for the first time after cheer practice sweaty, breathless, and grinning like a fool she doesn’t know what to do with her hands. so you guide her, slowly, patiently. until she’s clutching your waist and mumbling how she can’t believe this is real.
you giggling before kissing her again mumbling in-between that it was definitely real.
and that she better get used to it.
