I feel a bit dumb to ask this but in ao3, if people comments about "having an idea in their mind" and ask about talking in another platform, are they bots?
It seem a bit hod bcs they only talk about this and doesnât comment on the story itself.

Does anyone know of any good Avatar fanfiction (preferably set in the Avatar: The Way of Water and Avatar: Fire and Ashes timelines)?
The absence of Pandora really hits me, it hurt. But even after watching Cameron's films multiple times, I'm having trouble getting over that feeling..
So I'm looking for fanfiction that stays true to Cameron's work, not Y/N x Neteyam/Loâak/Jake, etc. (there's nothing wrong with that kind of content if you like it; I consume it sometimes too, I'm just looking for something different). One that really explores the universe, the fauna and traditions of Pandora through a "realistic" oc naâvi who isnât an avatar descendant, or futur tsahik, just a "random" na'vi (I have nothing against the ocs that stand out, who are special for their universe, all mine are like that đ« ).
I hope I make some sense and thank you in advance to those who will give me an answer!
reading: a lot of one shot since im a bit busy but the main fic i read are The Force That Through the Green Fuse Drives the Flower by canonsiriusblack (marauders fandom) and Footnotes in History by onemorechapter2000 (asoiaf fandom). Both are really good
last series: Irma Vep by Olivier Assayas and Percy Jackson and the Olympians
last movie: Avatar by James Cameron (I love this movie soo much -even if the second is my favorite- I'm currently rewatching the entire saga)
working on: shooting my short movie, my art work, crafting my own universe, role playing with my friends, paint animation, A LOT OF THINGS, A LOT
no pressure tags: @nerdymessr @fandom-gremlin @thestralsofspinnersend   @wallyblack1925-official + anyone else, i donât know much people in this app sorryđ
I need to see more purebloods/wizarding societies societies from outside the UK.
JKR is terrible at world-building, so why not just invent societies for our own countries? (And even invent more schools because, what the hell, you mean Africa is only allowed one while the UK has one all to itself?)
Create a wizarding world for our cultures, with pureblood societies that have their own characteristics, places (please, more places and jobs than just working at the Ministry), like wizarding villages or new types of jobs that actually make sense in the country. Because Iâm willing to believe that the magical world has a more or less similar culture everywhere, but at some point Muggle culture is bound to influence wizarding culture.
especially in the Marauders era where many of the characters have headcanon origins outside the UK.
HIIII I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS A LOT SINCE THE AGE OF EIGHT!
MY PERSONAL TAKE ON AFRICAN MAGICAL SOCIETY.
Preface! Africa is a large and diverse continent full of a plethora of cultures and languages, said languages each with different dialects and societal standards. My hcs tie in close to my own home, that being in Zimbabwe.
âą Zimbabwean magic and spirituality are tied in tight, practically interchangeable therefore there's not really "purebloods" in the societies. Magic calls one to be it's vessel the same way the ancestors call one to speak their will. This is the wide belief.
âą There are old families that dabble in magic, they run the education in their communities and have "schools" where all who have magical kids send their children. There the magical kids are taught to hone their ability according to the makings of their magical core.
âąBlood Magic is more widely used than potion brewing because it's faster and more effective (also where tf am I finna find eye of newt in Gokwe yk?)
âą Magic is viewed as intuitive! Wandless magic is standard! No spells! No wands! External tools for magic are seen as narrow and crippling because magic is everywhere, using a wand to draw on it would be like drinking from a lake with straw, why not just cup your hands instead?
âą Magical jobs are wide an interchangeable with "muggle" jobs. Witch doctors, sorceresses, herbalists, midwives, architects, teachers, cursehunters, diplomats etc etc
âą Magical Societies are close knitted with magical beings, wix make deals with mermaids, have tea with forest sprites, speak to mountain spirits and so on and so forth. There is no prejudice because they have learnt to live together easily.
âąThere's a magical totem system that ties into the magic that makes up one's magical core base. It's often according to tribe/clan so families and relatives tend to have the same core bases. This is often used track families and to avoid incest marriages (Zimbabwean don't play about that shit lol, it's taboo)
âą There is no "official" governance of magic. Which means no "statute of secrecy" (it's not necessary because wix and muggles live in harmony), no underage magic tracking (what even man?) Etc etc. Each community has a teacher and their knowledge is bestowed to an apprentice and/or their family thus the magic theory is maintained. That's the closest to governance of magic otherwise they basically follow the muggle systems of hierarchy like chiefs, village heads etc etc
But then BAM! Colonialism!
âą the coming of the missionaries scatters the societies and they go largely into hiing because colonialism has demonized spirituality and magic alike. Mediums, Seers and wix are being burnt alive. The old families now teach in secret. The colonisation is largely muggle (Ministry of Magic lovesss the whole 'splendid isolation' schmuck) so it's relatively easy to go hush hush abt it.
âą The British ministry of Magic doesn't know about Zimbabwean magical systems because they essentially closed all lines to the country because of colonisation. So all the textbooks are ill informed and racist and describe african Magic as primal and such.
I love being educated about how a society I donât know much about works, and discovering something new and original about something I looove đ€
I enjoy so much what you create and propose : thereâs no distinction between any type of being. Itâs something I feel like we really donât get in JKRâs work (how surprising). AND THE FACT THAT THEY WOULD RESPECT SEERS, OMG YES. Sybill should have been treated that way.
Also, this might make no sense, but I find your idea about magic being practiced without wands really interesting, and it actually makes a lot of sense. Because how the hell did the first witches and wizards use magic? They didnât discover their abilities while holding a stick. It also makes me believe even more in the theory that Ministries use wands to control the population (I hope Iâm making sense here).
AND DAMN, YOUR POINT ABOUT COLONISATION.
I. NEED. TO. KNOW. HOW. EUROPEAN. WIZARDS. WERE. IMPLICATED. IN. COLONISATION.
Thatâs something that, I think, is never mentioned, and itâs important, since (yay) JKR gave us some non-white characters who could possibly be descendants of wizards originating from colonised countries (I might be really, really wrong, so correct me if I am).
If Wizarding England was indeed implicated in colonisation, as you suggest (and as I also think), i can prove it but i know the families like the Malfoys or the Blacks had some very dark implication in this part of history.

As an arab, here's my rundown of how I would think the wizarding world would look like in the Middle East or any other arab country:
There have been a lot of inventions from the Middle East, for example: a lot of surgical tools still used today, algebra, coffee, windmills, clocks, etc., so I would like to think a lot of the magical inventions originated by arabs, as well.
I think wizards and witches alike were probably influenced by Muggle religion, so either they had some weird religious guilt, were defensive about it, became religious themselves, or did not give a damn. But a lot of them were influenced in some type of way.
Another fun idea is that there's this annual global Ancient Ruins competition where students from around the world compete to see who can decode a ruin the most accurately, and Egypt wins every time, I'm telling you.
There would be a good number of schools scattered around, since hard work and chasing knowledge are very important and valued here.
A follow-up to that, I think that there would be a school that has the same system like Hogwarts, which has 'houses' for the school, but instead of personality-wise, making it feel a lot like dividing the school into clean sections, instead, the houses are classified according to what kind of knowledge you chase.
e.g. If you chase art or creating stuff, or maybe you like a more logical and mathematical pursuit (Like Arithmancy). It's a bit of an abstract idea, but you guys get it lol
I think robes would still be a staple, but on formal occasions, it'd probably be more like Muggle culture, because I don't think that just because you have magic doesn't mean you're somehow not from that country. All countries have culture and different kinds of clothing, regardless of magical abilities.
Moroccans somehow collectively all excel at anything to do with magical creatures, esp giants; since they have a ton of mountains, gaints probably live there.
I don't think werewolf prejudice is spread all over the world, like probably most of it, but I'd like to think that a concerning amount of arab poets write a lot of poems about werewolves.
A lot of arabs love poetry, like it's pretty normal for the older generation to have memorised a good amount of poetry, not so much this generation. Poetry is considered the highest form of Arabic culture and has a unique and continuous history spanning over 1,500 years, so I also like to think they have an optional subject for it in magic schools, too
I think queerness is actually more accepted than the Arab Muggle culture, I just have a feeling. Queerness was normalised in the Middle East, but then laws were changed by others, and no one talks about it. Anyway, the wizarding world does not care about what Muggles say, so I think they'd support it more to spite the Muggles, and yeah :)))
Muggle-borns probably have a harder time, though, not in the way they hear slurs yelled at them more, but I think the Arab Wizarding World would simply find it amusing that they could be good. A sad thought, but probably true :(
And for purebloods, I think they'd act similarly to what we are familiar with, but I think they have a better awareness of what family is if we look back at Muggle culture. I think they'd still care about status, but everything is out the window if someone says something about their friend or family member. God forbid you say something about their mother, all hell would break loose lmao
Okayyy that's all I have lol (that is a lie, I could go on for ages) hope this is interesting xx
I love love love this and definitely need to see some visual art about this : clothes, schools, especially how the house about knowledge looks. (To be even more precise, the house about art, because Arab art is so gorgeous and beautiful !!!)
This is proof that we can all build a wizarding world that makes sense in all cultures and is not built by a racist transphobe who doesnât give a shit about having logical world-building.
Also, about queerness: I read a fanfic that I found amazing on the world-building side (Toujours Noir by OneMoreChapter_2000), where wizard society fully (or at least more than ours) accepts queerness. I found this idea really cool that in pureblood wizard society itâs normal, even the norm (and legal, since Harry Potter takes place in 1991 and same-sex marriage was legalized in 2014 in the UK, I think), to have gay and even poly marriages and relationships.
Anyways, I need more of this. I need to collect all the cultures in a wizarding-world way, like infinity stones.
