RuPaul's Drag Race Season 6, Episode 1 "RuPaul's Big Opening" RU-View
The sixth season of RuPaul's Drag Race has sashayed back on to our TV Screens, and with a whole new collection of wildly talented gals, it's looking to be a close finish! Season 6 kicks off with our first queen of the bunch, Adore Delano, a.k.a. Danny Noriega, a.k.a. of 'American Idol' fame! I'm a huge fan of Adore, I love her personality, her humor, and her style. She could very well be the underdog that we're all going to end up rooting for (a la, Jinkx Monsoon). Next we have the wonderful Ben De La Creme, serving up some CLASSIC camp. I'm in love with her personality, and as someone who is obsessed with camp drag, she's looking to be a season favorite! Let's hear it now for Laganja Estranja's death drop (can somebody say "SIXENING")?! Next up we have Kelly Mantle, who's look did little to impress the girls, but I found her personality to be somewhat charming. April Carrión came in serving up girl scout realness with a little parachute action. She's definitely the cutest boy of the group, and unlike most of the previous Latin queens, I CAN ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT SHE'S SAYING! I don't think there is going to be any language barrier from her, which is refreshing. It's always disappointing when the Puerto Rican queens fall flat due to being lost in translation. Gia Gunn is the one that I'm already well aware is going to be on EVERYONE's nerves this season. She's the Phi Phi of the group, but unlike Phi Phi, it seems like her bitchiness isn't natural. To me, it feels like she's just playing a part to get some extra air time. Every season since Sharon Needles, the winner has been decided in a fan vote. We've seen this play out, and we've watched queens like Phi Phi O'Hara and Roxxxy Andrews fall flat on their faces because of the fan votes. Let's face it, both of these queens had about as much like-ability as brain cancer. The same could easily be said about Gia, who's snarky comments in the confessional could cost her DEARLY in the end. Check yourself miss thing, you aren't that good. Let me just say, since this season was announced, I've been obsessing over Vivacious. Her entrance look did not disappoint. However, that zipper could have been pulled off a lot better... I hope she doesn't have too many mess up's like that this season, because when I found out that one of the ORIGINAL club kids was going to be on this season, I squealed with joy like a swine. And that's it. As RuPaul announced, this season's premiere has a major twist. There is going to be 7 girls this week, 7 girls next week, and they will probably merge in the 3rd week for a nice rounded out Top 12. So, like all first episodes, the first mini-challenge is a nice little photo shoot with an impossible scenario (Tyra Banks eat your heart out). For this season's photo shoot, the girls were required to strike a sickening pose while falling from mid-air. Some girls soared through the challenge (Laganja and Ben). Some were having a bit of a hard time taking off.... (I'm looking at you Vivacious), and others were just.... Gia (at least her final photo was okay, as seen in the Untucked). Laganja won the mini-challenge, which was great! I really enjoy Laganja's personality, although it does seem to rub some of the girls the wrong way. Laganja got to assign the girls their tasks for this week's main runway challenge. The theme, a sewing challenge that would incorporate some of TV's hottest shows. Adore seemed to really suffer with "Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo", she really wanted "Golden Girls". Do I sense some shade coming from Laganja? I thought they were sisters! The girls get to work, and that's when Gia really does it in for me. Gia's constant attacks at Kelly Mantle's skill were not cute. In fact, it was absolutely irritating to listen to her nasally voice dish out criticism. All I could think was "wow this girl better TURN it this week, or she's going to look really dumb". The runway show was accompanied by the lovely Adam Lambert, who might I say was looking as sexy as ever. My Ranking For The Girls This Week: Adore - I didn't actually think Adore's look was all that bad, it fit Honey Boo-Boo really nicely. I did not agree with what any of the judges say, and her personality really made up for any of the flaws that were in the outfit. 5/10 April - I loved her look, I don't know why she was complaining so much about Duck Dynasty, she had one of the easiest looks to pull off. Adam Lambert was getting really into it too. 8/10 Ben - The runway presentation was flawless, the dress looked high end, and I too noticed the huge similarities between her and Michelle Visage. This week Ben got to have her cake and eat it too. There were absolutely no flaws. 10/10 Gia - It looked like a figure skater's outfit, which was nice. Nothing special though, she totally reminds me of a Kardashian though. 7/10 Kelly - My problem was not with the "bacon", my problem was the fact that it was horrifically underwhelming. Just like her entrance look. There was nothing special to this look, and on the runway, she looked like she was in a daze. 4/10 Laganja - I think if she hadn't gotten caught on the train, it would have been pulled off much better. Her personality on the runway was really pushing it too. There was nothing wrong with the dress though, I think she's just really flamboyant, and that can rub people the wrong way. Still a big fan of her's though. 8/10 Vivacious - Mother has arrived! Sort of... I really was looking forward to the dragon concept she originally had, but what she pulled out was really underwhelming. I expected more of her club kid style to transcend, and it just wasn't doing it for me. It was a shoddy job to the say the least. I was really disappointed. That walk is the only reason this isn't a 1. 3/10 With the girls back out on the runway, RuPaul announced that there would be no immunity from next week. I completely forgot about immunity anyways, and I say good riddance. You need to bring it every week anyways. BenDeLaCreme won the challenge, no surprise there. She heavily out shined all the girls this week. Adore was saved from lip syncing, which I was really happy about. It just goes to show you that you need to have more than a nice runway look, Adore has the Charisma, and the Uniqueness. She may even have the Nerve, and since she's sticking around, I can't wait to see her pull off the Talent. The bottom 2 was Vivacious and Kelly. I was falling asleep to their rendition of "Express Yourself". I love that song, and they both really underperformed. Oh well. Vivacious was saved, and Kelly Mantle was told to sashay away. Season 6's premiere isn't over yet though, with Monday bringing us 7 new queens to watch, and there are some really strong contestants in the second half. I can't wait to see Milk, Courtney and Bianca turn it OUT. It's too early to call favorites, so I'll just leave it with this: GO HOME GIA GUNN

It's been over 2 years now since Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and stayed there for 6 weeks. This song means so much to me. I can't help but feel a huge sense of self-esteem when I listen to it. I feel like I can conquer anything after I listen to it. I remember when I first heard it, it was my birthday, February 10. I had just attended a HORRIBLE concert by Matt & Kim, they were completely awful... Worse concert ever. Anyways, I had gotten home, and I went on my computer real quick. I saw that "Born This Way" had been released, and my heart skipped beats. I instantly took a listen, and from the very first line "It doesn't matter if you love him, or capital H-I-M", tears began to flow. I cried hard that night. I cried because it was like this release had come from my soul. I had just turned 16, and I was going through some issues in my life. I hated the world, and I hated myself. When I heard that song, and when the chords began, it was like nothing I had ever heard before (and no, it does NOT sound like Express Yourself. At all.) Lady Gaga is a genius, and continues to inspire me to this day. She has had a bigger impact on my life than any other person on this planet. She is my icon. She is the queen of pop. She is Lady Gaga, and she was born this way!
She bring it to you every ball! Eat it bitches.
