whenever i look up transformers on newgrounds i usually see a barrage of smut as the first results on the art portal (usually by the same guy too) and on top of that there was that one guy who works for warframe that i see occasionally on twitter that posted arcee with her gluteus maximus out in her alt mode, and seeing those two combined made me form an opinion that i still hold till this day since 2024
TRANSFORMERS CAN BE SEXY WITHOUT 0 DESIGN CHANGES
yeah yeah but but hear me out, let me get down to the heeby jeebies before the oompa loompas
starting off with talking about an aspect i will occasionally see in transformers fanart and fan characters
do not get me wrong all transformers (even other converters) have some degree of being humanoid, i mean in loads of continuities they still got stuff like lips, noses(except prime), faux hair, ears even. but when it comes down the the scheme of things there's a certain threshold when it comes down to how human you can make cybertronians looks before he becomes uncanny. allow me to introduce you to the graph
this graph shows the border between cybertronians looking more robotic and humanoid, the average transformer usually falls around "bordering humanoid" and "definitely robotic" but in the case of later bayformers it ends up around "too humanoid". that's not to say that it's a bad thing a lot of the time, for the first 3 transformers films they followed a design philosophy where the autobots looked human-esque while the decepticons were more alien-esque, and i think that's pretty neat. but while this graph really only goes for facial features, the REAL nitty gritty lies within the body itself
another aspect of the "too humanoid" tier? part? idk, that i also see sometimes, and in a lot in transformers pornography is the addition of things like the caboose, nips, faux stomach flesh, sex organs and bosoms, and at certain points limbs with vehicle parts that turn into regular ass arms. in my opinion, they really should not be there in the first place. cybertronians at their core are made out of metal, glass, vehicular wizardry and blue ooze, and the addition of sexual body parts which are naturally squishy added onto a being primarily made of metal feels extremely out of place no matter what, if anything else, those features would fit more with the pretenders or beasts if we really get down to it.
another aspect of why i'm not big on it also has to do with the alt mode. the alt mode is what makes a transformer and any other converters what they are, bits of kibble and panels that unfold and connect to other bits of kibble and panels to make up a datsun, a ufo, an f-22, whenever it be simple like the original 1984 toyline or complex like the movies and masterpiece, it's a robot that transforms into a vehicle. and because i really think about where parts of the alt mode go during transformation because i do sometimes design shit for my own thing, when i see those few additions all it really does is puzzle me, especially when they look like they're supposed to make up the alt mode like the fanmade elita-2 (which doesn't have an alt mode design) because i cannot imagine them looking like anything other than that one scene from pimp my prime . and it's why i'm not a big fan of stuff like optimus prime's cab chest having a curve when leaning, fan designs like elita-2 again, that one design for widowmaker, or the AOE-TLK designs because with the alt mode completely ignored in favor for the robot, they'll just look like just an android with vague implications of kibble, and if i were to be hyperbolic i would even say nsfw artists don't care about what makes a transformer and just wanna draw robot smut
SEXY TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN
you can make cybertronians attractive by themself without the need for additional humanoid traits or sex organs as stuff like posing or the familiarity of humanoid body parts can be enough to set off your neurons, like for example this drawing of starscream and megatron's gun mode i nabbed from /co/ drawn by (presumable i might've fucked up the source) winebun
what makes the image attractive is that despite it being g1 starscream in all his blocky glory, what makes the drawing hot is the posing, having ol' screamer posed up like that along with megatron being between his thighs is hot, plus the vague imagery with the p38 alt mode really sells it in the awooga factor.
and while it can be hot, it can also be humorous like makotron's arcee animation because the idea of the hood being a top and the wheels being in place of mammary glands is funny in nature you have to admit that, you can get very creative with it much like the bots in animated having their own cuss words in place of actual ones.
n'other example is a steamroller autobot fan design where the roller is in place of the boobs, i don't feel like posting that since i'm already bordering with the topic and the other links .
in conclusion, you can make cybertronians hot while still retaining their image... and also blame beast wars blackarachnia for everything i talked about
oh and missing link arcee should be the standard for arcee toys
