I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has checked in with me since the surgery. Your cards, texts, flowers, slippers, candles, ice cream, and visits have helped me get through the past two weeks by reminding me how many people I have in my corner ...and of course my two feline caregivers have been top notch! Tomorrow I start step two in this adventure: a special injection to my vocal nerve to prep my voice for a return to work in the new year. Lovelies, I have news: Tomorrow, I get a new fifth chakra!! Well technically I’m having surgery to have my thyroid removed, but a very special person pointed out that my throat chakra will be renewed - I love this! A chance for better self expression, communication, creative expression, more energy, and an opportunity to simply stand in the world better representing my truest self. I’ll take it! It beats the hell out of dwelling on the fact that I have thyroid cancer, or worrying about a bunch of unpredictable outcomes. Surgery is typically very successful in tackling this beast and I am ready for battle! I go into tomorrow with a head and heart full of gratitude for all that I have right now and for all of the support I’ve received over the past few weeks as I slowly got used to this new reality. It has all happened very fast and my dearest friends and family have helped me process this into getting excited to be on the other side of this soon.
