Valentine's Day sucks. (Khonshu x reader oneshot)
Before you start reading, I would like to say I have only seen the series and have not read any of the comics, as of right now. So I apologise if I mischaracterize the character, I also haven't written in a while, so it might be dooky lol. ANNDD I had grammly help correct some stuff and I was lokey too lazy to check over it so im sorry if something sounds off.
Summary: You're Khonshu's avatar, and today's Valentine's Day, you're feeling a little down and somewhat jealous of seeing all the couples around, so Khonshu attempts to cheer you up.

It was nearing around 9 pm when you finally got off of work, ‘Thank GOD’ you thought to yourself, you worked as a waitress at a very popular restaurant in town, and around the holidays it usually gets super busy, especially on Valentine's, the day you hated the most. It was just a constant reminder of how lonely you were and how much you suck at dating, I mean, yeah, you had a couple of lovers in the past, but they were all terrible, you just seem to attract all the bad ones, you guess. Walking out the front doors of your workplace after checking out, you start walking down the sidewalk, leading towards the public parking garage. You could see the cold air in front of you as you breathe, your hands stuffed into the pockets of your jacket, and you could see couples walking around, either starting or ending their night. You let out a small groan as you finally reach the parking garage where your car was currently parked.
As you drove home, you naively turned on the radio, romantic music instantly filled your ears; All of me, can't help falling in love, etc. Every single radio seems to be playing romance songs, you sighed and turned it off. Deciding to just drive in silence, which wasn't enjoyable either, as you couldn't help but think about how lonely you were. DAMN you wished you didn't care about this so muchwhat'sts even worse, ycan'tant even bother trying to find a date knowing your moonknight, and obviously you have a tight schedule with that. You wouldn't have time for your lover, and how would you even explain your situation to them? “Uh, yeah,h I have this 7-foot god following me, who do his bidding,” like who the hell would believe that? Certainly not you.
Struggling to take your keys out of your pants pocket (or skirt pocket, whichever one you wanna wear), you struggle opening the door to the apartment, finally getting it open, you mosey on over to your couch, taking off your jacket as you do so, and throwing it in a random direction. You plop down on the couch, finally able to relax until Khonshuu appears. He, being too tall for your apartment, had to lean over just so his head wouldn't hit the ceiling, and his staff arched at an angle. Before he could say anything, you quickly cut him off, “yeah yeah I know, vengeance, justice and whatever……” you sheepishly got off the couch, summoning your suit like you did every night. “What is bothering you, worm?” Khonshu, looking down at you, sensing that you were upset. Usually, when you were upset, annoyed, angry,y e,c; he’d ignore it, as it wasn't really in his interest; however, this time was different, mostly because the feelings were stronger this time. “It’s nothing, Khonshuu,” you replied, dismissing his worry. “Tell me, bug, you cannot fully function as my avatar if you are not level-headed. Perhaps telling me your sorrows will help you feel better.” Sitting back down on the couch, Khnoshu joins you, although he looked a little goofy sitting on the couch with how tall he was, causing you to snicker. “Alright… It’s just” you struggled getting what was on your mind out, you felt embarrassed talking about your issues to a god. “Today's Valentine's Day, which...” Not sure if Khonshuu knew what the holiday was, you explained it to him. “And I hate Valentine's Day, just because the whole day is just a constant reminder of how damn lonely I am! I hate seeing all the couples, decorations, and music all day, I can't even avoid it either because of course I just have to work on holidays, soI'mm constantly serving couples that come in and proudly show their love. Ve” You cringe at that, PDA.. ugh ew. “Like, geez, we get it, you're dating someone, doesn't mean you have to make out with someone for like, 20 minutes in a public place. You finally finished your rant, looking off to the side as you waited for Khonshu to respond. After what felt like a decade, he spoke up. “I do not understand why you humans care so much about dating, however, if you truly care so much about this, I will give you the night off” you looked up at him, shocked, He rarely gave you a break, so this was shocking.”t-thank you khosnhu” you replied, still stunned from his descian, and just like that, he was gone.
It was 11 pm when Khosnhu appeared again. You were still on the couch, watching a TV series you were deeply invested in and could finally continue watching since Khonshu, very graciously, gave you the night off. Glancing over at Khosnhu, not really wanting to take your eyes off the TV since a dramatic scene was happening. You were confused about why Khonshu was back since you assumed he’d leave you alone for the rest of the night. However, your thoughts quickly changed to annoyance when Khonshu bent down in front of you, his beak slightly above your head. You were about to tell him to move until you felt something cold against your neck. Looking down, he was putting a necklace around your neck. It was the color of gold, not sure if it was real or not, and it had a moon symbol on the end. You felt so many emotions hit you at once, confusion, maybe a little happy? As any human would if they were being gifted something, but another emotion you haven't felt in a long time is building up in your stomach. You felt your cheeks grow slightly heated, and the butterflies were swarming around in your stomach. No fucking way that you were starting to feel something for Khonshu, right? I mean, shit, he's a god first of all, and no way in hell he would ever like you back. Once he finished putting the necklace on, you started examining it, holding the end of it with your hand with such delicacy, as if it would break if you were too rough, it felt cold, and shone in the light. Glancing up at him, you couldn't help but ask. “Where- how did you get thisI'mmm so confused right now.” Khonshu stood back up, not without hunching over, of course. “A thank you would be a better response.”
“Oh-yea,h thank you khonshu, but uh.. Why is how?”
“That is not important, but I figured I could try gifting you something to cheer you up. Humans gift each other jewelry and such on a holiday such as this, do they not?”
“Yeah, bu, they only do that if they're dating, but nevertheless, thank you again, khonsh. You felt a smile creep up on your face. Of course, it was a moon necklace, which makes sense, but either way, it was a pretty necklace.“You're welcome, worm; however, next time you wouldn't be given a break, so don't let this happen again,” and then, he was gone again, leaving you sitting there confused and with new feelings for him. This wasn't like Khonshuu at all, and for the rest of the night, you couldn't help but think about him.
