And no I don’t think love ever leaves because it’s been eight years since my dad died and he is in every thought and hope and dream. and when I think I can’t fix the computer he is here. and when I eat chocolate cake he is here. and when the sun glows at 3pm he is here. and he will always be here because his life made mine, and my life will be his epilogue

Introduction to The Iliad, Emily Wilson
On Grief
Grief is such an unusual concept to me. It is a very sharp feeling that you cannot really empathize until you go through it. Therefore, it is not transferrable, it is not felt by your friends, by people around you; you cannot possibly tell what it really feels like carrying a burning stone on your chest that is full of memories.
I have tried to transcribe it to people. I always start with the very obvious. You miss them a lot. No, it doesn’t get easier with time. Time has absolutely no power on your grief. Blessed with healing, time is weak when confronted with grief. It doesn’t get easier but you get used to it. It is a lot like carrying a very heavy box; but on somedays, the box comes with a strap, so you can carry it like a backpack. Somedays, box feels heavier than ever.
They are everywhere. You always want to call them. Life seems quite an unnecessary process when you actively pay attention to their absence. You wish you’d died before them; then you’ll think it’s selfish. Pain is unbearable, yet somehow you bear it. You will question afterlife, and you will start to wish there is an afterlife, a peaceful heaven for them, and you will wish to be a better person; just to be able to meet them in heaven.
And the worst part is, I think, you can’t let go of grief; it is the only strongest feeling you have of them, and it is now part of them, what’s left of them. So you hold on to it, like holding a broken glass in your hands and keep squeezing it even if your fingers and your palm is bled out, happy that you still have a part of the glass.
before the Big Bang, there was no up there was no down there was no side to side.
There was no up there was no down there was no side to side, there was no light, there was no dark, no shape of any kind. There were no stars or planet Mars or protons to collide, there was no up there was no down there was no side to side. And furthermore, to underscore this total lacking state, there was no here there was no there because there was no space. And in this endless void, which can’t be thought of as a place, there was no time and so no passing minutes, hours days. Of all the paradoxes that belabor common sense, I think this one’s the greatest this time before events, because how did we get from nothing to infinitely dense from immeasurably small to inconceivably immense. But before we get unmoored from the question at the start, let’s take a breath and marvel at when math becomes an art because we don’t have to understand it to know there was a time when there was no up there was no down. There was no side to side

Thank god they brought back An Amount Of Daylight That Makes You Want To Live. It was getting a bit scary for a minute there.
it really is insane how waking up early will grant you access to some of the most beautiful sights and sensations in the world that will make you want to live forever, but only if you overcome the gauntlet of a thousand razors that is getting out of bed early. truly one of life's little saw traps.

skeletal treasures of the sea
You're just a mammal. Let yourself act like it. Your brain needs enrichment. Your body needs rest. You feel hunger and grow hair. You need to pack bond with other sentient things so you don't become unsocialized and neurotic. You are biologically inclined to seek dopamine and become sick when chronically stressed. "Hedonism" is made up to place moral value on taking pleasure in sensory experiences. I am telling you that if you don't let yourself be a fucking mammal, as you were made, you will suffer and go insane. No grindset no diets no trying to be above your drive for connection. Pursue what makes you feel good and practice radial rejection of the constructs meant to turn you into a machine. You're a mammal.
