Here is a little progression of my development process for Tinker Bell as she appears in the “Animators’ Collection” line of dolls for the Disney Store. I was so excited to find out I would be working on Tink that I started sketching in my notebook while my first meeting about her was still taking place. You can see my initial “thumbnail” sketches that are around an inch tall scribbled like some sort of foreign language I would take back to my desk to figure out. I wanted to capture her energy and hint to who she would later become. As Tink started to take shape, she started out cute, but maybe a little too cartoony. I was playing with dress proportions and hairstyles, until suddenly there she was. I hope you enjoy her as much as I do. And, if you haven’t gotten one of your very own, what are you waiting for?
