You deserve someone who checks up on you when you’re sad. Who makes an effort to make sure you’re okay because they know you’re having a bad day. You deserve someone who cares about you.

It is not unkind to set boundaries. On the contrary, by being clear and honest about what you are comfortable with creates a space for others to do so, and builds a stronger connection with those around you.

I'm learning that there are some people in your life that no matter how hard you try or how much effort you put in, they are not going to like you. It is pointless trying to convince someone of your goodness who is dedicated to misunderstanding you. Sometimes the version they have of you in their head is easier to digest than coming to terms with the fact that they might have judged you harshly or been at fault. Sometimes it's okay to just step away. I'm coming to the hard truth that not everyone is going to like me.
