this was requested by one of my favorite people, one of my fandom moms, the lovely @evazarovas. thank you for everything you do for me, this was the least I could do for you.
âIs anyone else burning up right now?â
âTammy, itâs seventy degrees in here.â
Tammy huffed and dropped into her chair, shedding her jacket as she did so. She rolled up her sleeves and tried to catch her breath from the sudden movements. Ignoring the worried looks from Hannah, Tammy ran a hand through her hair and tried to focus on the work in front of her despite the hammering she felt in her head. It didnât take long for Tammy to realize she was getting sick, which was one of her least favorite conditions. Sheâs despised being sick since she was a little girl catching the flu from classmates and she knew this would be no different. She hoped Hannah wouldnât catch on and make her stay home, even though she technically had no authority over the team.
Having dealt with a sick child many times in her past, Hannah knew exactly what was going on with Tammy. She had spent plenty of days at home taking care of Naomi when she was sick and she was familiar with the signs of a cold.
Hannah crossed the squad room, perching on the corner of Tammyâs desk. âYouâre sick, Tammy.â
âIâm not sick,â Tammy muttered, refusing to look up from her computer. She knew she couldnât lie to the woman if she looked her in the eye, so she tried to avoid doing so for as long as possible.
Hannah laid her hand on Tammyâs shoulder, letting the agent know that she knew she was lying. Her touch was gentle, but firm which she hoped would make Tammy turn around and face her. She, of course, knew the woman well and a small smile grew on her lips as she watched Tammy slowly turn around to face her. Hannah reached out slowly and pressed her hand against Tammyâs forehead, concern growing on her face as she felt the heat radiating from the womanâs skin.
âYou have a fever, darling. You need to go home and get some medicine and some fluids in you.â
Tammy felt her breathing hitch when Hannah called her darling, although that could have reasonably been from the cold. She looked up at Hannah through half-lidded eyes and chewed on her lip. She hated feeling vulnerable, which was the primary reason she hated being sick. Tammy knew she should be at home getting better, but she felt like she would be letting down the team if she did so. After intense consideration, Tammy finally nodded and sighed. She signed out of her computer and reached to grab her keys from her desk, but a hand covering her own stopped her.
âIâll take you to get some medicine and then Iâll take you home. You shouldnât be driving in this state,â Hannah said softly, giving Tammyâs hand a gentle squeeze before letting go. She looked to Pride for approval of her decision and continued when he gave her a nod. âIâll give you a ride to work when you come back.â
âThank you,â Tammy whispered, not having the energy to argue with Hannah. It was as if somehow admitting that she was sick made her symptoms worse within the span of minutes.
As Hannah slowly ushered Tammy out of the squad room, she felt Prideâs hand on her shoulder. She turned to face him while still managing to keep Tammy on her feet.
âTake as much time as you need with her, we can manage here for a while. Take care of her,â he said, giving her a knowing look.
Nodding, Hannah shot him an appreciative smile and waved at Sebastian as she turned to leave the building once more. At that moment, Hannah decided to take Tammy to her house and put her in her bedroom so she could keep a close eye on her. She would spend the day taking care of Tammy, knowing Tammy would do the same for her in a heartbeat.
Once Hannah finally managed to get Tammy into the house, she led her down the hall to her bedroom with a gentle hand on the small of her back. Hannah carefully guided Tammy to the bed and pulled off the womanâs shoes, setting them on the ground at the end of the bed. Hannahâs hands expertly removed the remainder of Tammyâs clothes, although this was a much different situation than any time she had done this before. When Hannah carefully unclipped Tammyâs bra, she took a step back and wondered how it was possible that Tammy still looked beautiful even when being plagued with an illness. She only took a few moments before grabbing a shirt for Tammy to sleep in and pulled it down over the womanâs head.
Hannah worked in silence, not wanting to contribute to the headache she knew was worsening in Tammyâs head. She stacked the pillows on the bed to support Tammy as she sat up against them so she could take her medicine before curling back up in bed. After setting Tammyâs glass of water back on the nightstand beside the bed, Hannah turned to get herself a t-shirt to change into so she could relax with Tammy until it was time for her to pick Naomi up from school.
Tammy reached out and wrapped her fingers around Hannahâs wrist, grabbing the womanâs attention. âThank you, Hannah. I really appreciate this.â
Hannah smiled at her girlfriend and pressed a soft kiss on the top of her head. âOf course, baby girl. I will always be here to take care of you.â
Letting go of Hannahâs wrist, Tammy let Hannah return to her actions. She watched as Hannah stripped out of her clothing and wondered if Hannah knew she was the best thing to happen to her. She had never met someone with a heart as caring as Hannahâs and she didnât think she ever would, besides Hannahâs daughter, Naomi. Watching Hannah make sure she was comfortable once more before slipping into the bed beside her, Tammy knew the exact label for what she felt toward the woman. Love.
