Life is a little rocky, but overall I'm doing okay. Thank you so much! I worked really hard on my degree, and now I'm moving forward with it, but by no means am I abandoning (most) of my blogs.

I can't believe anyone remembers my 9th Doctor blog!

A soft, sad sound came from Kailee as she stared at the glass of bourbon in her hand. She swirled the liquid around by tilting the cup in her hand, watching intently as the color caught the light. She acted like this was interesting to her, like she was distracted enough to let the silence hang between them this long.

It was not for lack of response. No, rather it was to pretend like she had to think about what she said next. 

“No you don’t.”

Her voice cracked, not with tears, but with a tired sorrow.

“They don’t become afraid to hurt you. They take it as a challenge. And those who are afraid to hurt you are also afraid to love you. You can say you don’t want love, but that’s just not true. That’s the human condition.”

She took a long sip of her drink.

Kailee’s expression went cold. She sat in the warm light of a shitty hotel room, crosslegged in a thin pair of pajama pants in front of a muted television set. What did he know of dying quietly? Nobody she had ever loved had died quietly. Why would she be afforded that luxury? No, she would die screaming and fighting for what was right. 

“Tell me. Why would I lay down and die quietly when I can die fighting? If I die fighting, there’s a chance I can take whatever killed me with it.” 

She picked at her nails, biting on her lower lip.

Kai cocked a brow at the girl. It was enough she had accepted the telepathy thing (how violating) it was another that she was being judged, now, apparently. 

She frowned, turning back to her work (her work being binding some cursed twine around a silver knife handle) and muttered softly to herself. She couldn’t afford kindness right now, and all the people who understood that tended to be in her line off work, and that meant they were already dead. 

Damn, this job was awfully risky for something that didn’t come with health insurance.

     “ That wasn’t exactly what I was… “    For one who prided himself on his tact, it eluded him surprisingly often. A moment’s pause broke his words as he reclined back, hands winding together in his lap as he searched for a more…. delicate way to phrase his concerns. She was under much stress, that was certain. And he didn’t doubt the severity of what she faced. 

But, that didn’t mean it was a wise idea to let her health waver. Especially if there was going to be fight in her near future… something that seemed rather likely, given what he knew of her work thus far.       “ I simply meant that you may want to take a moment to rest. Just for a moment. Allow me to make you a meal before you go charging valiantly into the fray… “ 

Checkmate.

Kailee knew how to shut people up. Gods knew she had enough practice with her brother. A part of her knew that Aedus was trying to be nice, but when people were nice to her, they died. He seemed too good of a person to be dying on her behalf, so pushing him away and just outright being a bitch felt like a better option.

Still, there was something about him that made her want to stop. The second she let herself hesitate, the weariness set in. Oh god. When was the last time she had stopped moving? When was the last time she sat down (when there wasn’t paperwork or spell components in front of her?) Her body betrayed her; it behaved like a shitty car that couldn’t be stopped because the engine would stall out.

Kailee frowned, rubbing at her temples.

“You don’t look so well.” ( aedus )

He wasn’t wrong.

Kailee had seen better days. Sleep was a lover that had ditched her about three days ago for someone with mental stability and maybe less of an obsession with getting an answer. Between that, her inability to maintain what one would call a “decent,” diet and habit of replacing real meals with iced coffee, it would be reasonable to say that she absolutely looked like shit.

He was just too polite to say it like that. 

Dark eyes shifted to stare at him, the gentle glow of the light in the room catching on her iris and reflecting an amber color as she considered his statement. The silence wasn’t heavy. Somehow, it was hollow. That was worse. 

If you think that if we stop RPing, or you delete your blog, or whatever, that I forget about you, you’re wrong. I think about people all the time. I’m actually here, crying about people I roleplayed with up to like...7 years ago.

I think about all of you.

I think about @rubiesintherough. Hi! We’re still talking! You’ve been such an amazing RP partner and friend, and I’m so lucky to have you in my life! Thank you for being so patient and amazing! You’re such a gift. 

I think about how @gciszler taught me about asexuality, and how my muses interact with ace people. I hope you’re happy wherever you may be.

I think about @chainxbreaker-blog and all their muses, and I frequently wonder how she’s doing. I hope she’s okay, wherever she is. 

I think about @scrcerer-blog and how often Kirios and our shenanigans made me (and Kailee laugh.) Our threads brought me out of so many dark places, and I can’t begin to thank you for that.

I think about @familiiarity-blog and our beautiful, magical plots. We explored polyamory with our muses, magic, and family. 

The man had sensed an awful creature that was within these woods that seemed to like luring children into the wood. He had no tolerance for this. The creature had to be stopped and captured and he was the one that was going to do that. If there was any chance that it had a soul and sense of morality, he couldn’t let it die when redemption was possible. 

The man then noticed the woman jumping down, but he had sensed her already. He’d picked up on her unique scent when he’d walked past her in previous areas he had made peaceful before he left them. It was odd that they kept heading in the same direction so far. He politely smiled at her regardless of her own features.

“Nope, mere coincidence. But feel free to assume things all you like. Girl, you notice how those previous towns went from having crime to becoming completely peaceful. That was me, it’s what I do. I go places one at a time, worldwide, make them peaceful and crime free like my home town.” 

There was pause as he simply checked his surroundings with his senses. But he kept his attention trained on the woman, just in case. “Call me Lee or Prophet, whichever you prefer. I’m the reincarnation of a fallen angel and a vigilante, out to make the world a better place. I’m here to stop a creature from taking children. How about you?”

Either he was insane, or way too honest for his own good. Kailee squinted at him, her arms crossed as she considered his story. Why would he make that up? Or, better, was he stupid enough to cop an attitude (or sarcasm) with her, when she was clearly a threat? 

After a few moments of contemplation, she decided to try and figure out his game. It wasn’t like she was easily tracked, after all. She bit her lower lip, dark eyes never leaving his face as she considered her next move. Nobody could be trusted, after all. The wrong move could get her killed.

“Kailee, or some variation of it, I suppose. I’m...just out here trying to also stop a creature, but doing a better job, because you seem to be following rather than leading,” cue a quirk of a smile. 

She had been chasing this creature for two weeks now. It was stubborn and ugly and it liked to lure children into the woods, but she was more stubborn and more clever. Kailee was armed in the dead of night, perched in a tree like some weird bird in a beanie, a knife clutched in her hand as she waited for her prey. Granted, she was not prepared to see another person in the woods when she leapt down, ready to plunge said knife into her victim.

That was not the creature she sought, and he was...well, very capable of hurling her off of him. Kai hit the ground hard, dark eyes peering up at him in a daze for a few seconds. She climbed to her feet, ready for a fight one way or another. It took a few more seconds to process.

“You. I’ve seen you in at least two other towns. Are you stalking me or something, dude? Look, I get it, I’m cute, but like...daydream about me being the woman of your dreams or some other delusion like a normal guy and move on, would you? Gods...”

Kailee rolled her eyes and shifted her grip on her knife, her eyebrows narrowing. All jokes aside, he had gotten between her and her objective, which was pretty annoying in her books (and concerning...who the hell was he?)
