Throughout the film, there was definitely a lot of serotyping that was happening. It was hard to see each of the family member speaking to Chris and making it seem like he was another species of some sort. They would go and touch him and have the idea that because he was black, he had to have a strong physic. They would also say things like “Black is the new fashion”, which really upset me because people still think like this till this day. This film touched upon all sorts of stereotypes from the auction, to the mammy stereotype and black workers. 

Rose was definitely one of the creepiest character in this film. Her acting was amazing that even I had trouble figuring out if she was a bad person in the beginning. Its ironic that the closest person to Chris was the most dangerous and threatening. The way her character was played, you would have never assumed that she was apart of her families heinous crimes. She made it seem like she was happy with Chris and the color of his skin was never an issue. This movie made me have trust issues....

This specific scene in the film stood out to me a lot. Many might have thought that this scene was simply because he used the cotton to cover his ears, and yes, that was smart, but I saw it differently. I think this scene was used to bring up the stereotype of blacks picking cotton. I think this stereotype was incorporated into this film in an amazing way where you can only notice it once you really think about the racist stereotypes happening all throughout the film. 

I’ve watched “Get Out” twice and it hasn’t failed to give me the chills. This movie was great in how it was able to portray racism and do it in a way where it displayed how people who are racist, try and deny it but do mean what they say. The acting in this film was amazing and it genuinely made me see how things like this do happen and have happened in real life. 

I definitely think this is one of the scenes that spoke out to me. I feel like a lot of colored people lived by that mindset, where they don’t let all the negative comments get to them. That they know their worth more and as long as they know that, that's all that matters. Scenes like these bring out positive mindsets and ideas that I think a lot of people should live by. 

The film “The Help”, definitely portrayed the theme of racial prejudice and bigotry towards black people. It was easy to see how it effected each of the nannies and how situations like these actually occurred. It was heartbreaking to see that they couldn’t do anything but obey their orders and smile through their pain. They were treated like machines and didn’t get the freedom to choose and do what they wanted. 

It was extremely frustrating to see how Hilly and her other friends made it seem like black people were nothing but a disease, but it also made it ironic how they would let them take care of their children. I couldn't understand why they couldn't even use the same bathrooms, but were given full responsibility of their kids. Sometimes it was like they weren't aware that they were racist and it made it even more frustrating. 

Celia Foot was definitely one of my favorite characters in the film “The Help”. In the beginning I thought she was just going to be any other rude and racist character that was being introduced, but her role in the film was more of a breath of fresh air. She didn’t come from a rich family household which made her different. She treated Minny as her equal and was always considerate of her feelings.

It was really interesting to see the different sides of how Kamilla and her brother viewed Eli and Daniel. While Kamilla thought of them as family, her brother hated them because he blamed them for their mothers death. I feel like if Kamilla wasn’t a child, her views might have been different and she would have probably thought the way her brother did. But because she was a child, she was more openminded and knew that she shouldn't blame them for something that they didn't cause.

Daniel was definitely one of my favorite characters in the film. His character really showed the hardships of trying to accomplish ones dream when living in a community where that’s basically impossible. It was sad yet nice to see someone who was talented in making music and knowing how difficult it would be to accomplish his goal, still trying. He was always kind hearted who not only cared about Kamilla, but also never talked back to his brother Eli until the very end. 

These two characters in the film really showed that not only was there racial tension happening with different racial groups, but there was also tension between the same racial groups as well. The film was able to put into perspective that nobody was really getting along. It really showed that it wasn't only just racial tension between certain groups, but ultimately everybody in the community was just trying to make things work. 

Throughout the film “Gook”, I couldn't help but feel protective over Kamilla. Her character always felt like she didn’t fit in anywhere and only wanted to be treated like family. Not only was she a girl who was colored, she was also a child trying to survive during the L.A. riots. Because the film was in her perspective, it made me feel more infested in her and even more upset that she died towards the ends of the movie. 

Since this movie is set in a child’s perspective, it makes the audience more emotionally affected because of how vulnerable and innocent he is. It shows not only a major theme of black male identity and its interactions with sexual identity, it also shows how children can also struggle with their sexual identity and the their thought process as they grow. 

This specific scene from the film really describes how I think as well. At the end of the day, your the only one who can make decisions about yourself and how you want to be presented. Chiron in this case, has to overcome his obstacles and come to terms with his sexuality, and that's something that he has to do on his own. 

Juan’s character was one of my favorite characters in the film. He not only broke stereotypes with his role showing how a drug dealer was very much a kind/soft hearted person and his personality was something the audience wouldn’t have expected, he was also a father like figure to Chiron who teaches him how to swim and overcome what life throws at him. His character really left an impact because even though he passes away, his wisdom sets Chiron on his journey from boyhood to manhood.

One thing I genuinely liked about Chiron’s character in the film “Moonlight” was his ability to forgive people. His mother and Kevin for example were some of the few people who really impacted his life, yet he was able to forgive them for the things that they did wrong. I feel like this aspect of himself kind of went unnoticed. 

I feel like the film did a lot to show how someone's surroundings really change who they are. Because the kids barely had parents to take care of them, they resorted to their own ways of survival.
