Charlie Chaplin trade cards dating back to early 1920's, most of these depicting scenes from his film "The Kid", 1921.

The “Beat It” Chaplin trading card reminds me of Michael Jackson. 🤭

How I feel after learning that Michael was working on a comic book shortly before he passed away

Forever, Michael is one of my favorite Michael albums, lately. I can’t tell if it’s because the material is actually good, or because of how extraordinarily talented Michael was as a singer… I’m especially impressed by the way he transitioned into ‘adult’ repertoire after his voice dropped. He went through so many musical transitions even before he left Motown Records.

I was chatting with another fan in discord, and ended up writing a short response about Michael and how he’s influenced me as a person. I thought I would share it on this blog for other fans to read:
[…] He’s encouraged me to be a more empathetic person, and to strive to always put myself in another’s shoes before judging them. Even if we are ‘good’ people, it’s surprisingly hard not to judge. It’s a mindset that takes time to cultivate, and it doesn’t align with current social norms (and maybe never will!). Michael was a good person inside and out. I don’t bother comparing him to celebrities of the same status, or even other philanthropists because I truly think the philanthropy and humanitarianism was just an external sign of what a good person he was. This is something a lot of people don’t seem to understand when they compare him [to celebrities like Jimmy Savile].
The mental image of Michael freaking out over Sid and Marty Krofft meeting Walt Disney is so funny to me… I can feel in my bones it’s true (or at least could be), even though later in this article Sid makes the ridiculous claim that Michael was inspired to do the moonwalk after seeing a character on H.R. Pufnstuf do it in 1969.
Okay, sure Jan… 😂

To Sid’s credit, Judy Frog does a dance in the show which she calls a “moonwalk.” She slides back twice, once with her left foot and once with her right… but the sliding motion does not appear to be the focus of the dance, it seems to me.

MJ always had the sweetest little sparkle in his eyes. A sparkle I associate almost exclusively with childhood because we all once had that look in our eyes. I go through photos of myself as a child, or see friends’ photos of themselves as children and that little sparkle is there. That burning bright of the soul is there. Michael never lost it, which I think is ultimately so beautiful and wonderful.
It’s so uncommon to see adults that still have that spark from childhood in their eyes. I have a feeling it was important for Michael in particular not to lose it, in order for him to do the work that he did… Michael was an innovator, and innovators view things from a new and different perspective. Most adults are stuck perceiving things one way.
Funnily enough, the only one other person I can think of that never lost that spark was actually a close friend of Michael’s… Sid Krofft. Sid was an innovator in another industry (TV), producing live action puppet shows for children, well into his 80s. I guess they were both children at heart. :’)

Bought an autographed HIStory tour program today but I’m ashamed of how much I spent on it
