If I posted my a Capella cover of hallelujah on Christmas would y’all listen to it? I made it as a Christmas present for a friend but I really like the way it turned out. I’ll probably post it on my YouTube channel too.

Bodhi brushed his fingertips very lightly over the material, his heart fluttering. “It’s beautiful, my love,” he whispered, a bright smile setting over his face. “It’s so lovely, thank you so much.” He carefully folded it in half and then looped it around his neck.

Bodhi smiled slightly, though his gaze was distant. “Yeah, those cookies are excellent. I really ought to get the recipe...” He trailed off in thought. Maybe he’d go back to his own rooms and cook instead. Something in Rey’s words had him missing home and its food.

Bodhi stayed underneath, studying things, refitting a plug here or an input connector there. Once he’d done all the adjustments he could find, he pulled back. It was definitely a better image than they’d been getting before, and he pulled off his gloves with a satisfied smile. “It needs a couple new parts. I think the lens is scratched up as well, which isn’t doing the image any favours.” He tucked his gloves back into the pockets of his waistcoat. “That’s as good as we will get for now, though.” He turned to Alistair, blushing again now that his work was finished. “Sorry for butting in like that. Thank you for being patient.” He stepped back, as well, not wanting to crowd personal space.

Alistair nodded, making a mental note about the things that the younger pilot listed off so that he could write it in a report to the General. Perhaps they had some sort of extra parts that could work to help it around here, but that was just as messy as a job with all the spare metal parts that they had. When the pilot turned back to him, Alistair gave him another smile to help reassure him when he saw that the pilot was starting to look a little nervous. “It’s quite alright. At least you know what needs to be fixed.”

Bodhi nodded slightly, a hint of a smile tugging at his lips. He’d been helpful! That was good. He cleared his throat. “Do you, um, know what my mission is going to be? Or anything about it?” He was anxious and wanted to talk, and small talk wasn’t exactly something he was very good at.

He smiled as he watched the younger boy smile. He had a sad feeling that Bodhi was not often told he did something right. That made Alistair feel good inside. Moving on to look at the projected image, he nodded and explained, leaning up slightly, “it’s a supply run mission, but at a high profile port.” There would be a lot of security there. They needed good pilots not just to get the supplies but for their own defense.

Bodhi nodded slightly, smiling a bit. He rubbed his arm absentmindedly. He liked the sound of the mission, frankly; it was more involved than things he’d been doing oreviously, and he enjoyed working on things like this. He examined the projection that was up. “Would I be coming with? Or is it just a simple pick up and drop off?”

The man gave him a smile before moving to set the last part of the projection up so that it could be in moving to help visualize the plan. He answered the other man, talking while still working, “I would like you to come with us. We need someone to pilot our ship to place the supplies on, but we also need a skilled pilot in case we need to leave in a rather quick hurry. I’ve heard that you are a good pilot and from reading about some of your past missions, I have to agree.” He looked up once and offered the man another smile. “We need quick piloting skills as well as a pilot that knows how to shoot if needed, both while in a larger ship. You were suggested and I agreed.”

The smile was a little more reassuring, and Bodhi did relax more. The fact that he’d been researched made Bodhi a little nervous again, but he was glad that the results had been good. Alistair seemed like someone who was level-headed and a good judge of character, so his approval definitely meant something. “I’m glad I fit the bill, sir,” he smiled. “You can rely on me.”

Bodhi flushed. “You didn’t have to do that,” he mumbled, accepting it carefully. He weighed it like a child before carefully undoing the wrapping, trying not to tear the paper.
