One of my favorite parts of San Francisco are the street cars. I realize A) it’s weird for a public transportation option to be your favorite part of anything and B) they aren’t even as stereotypically iconic as the cable cars going up hills, with tourists hanging off the sides. *But* they are soooo cool, and they are all little pieces of history. Did you know that most of the SF street cars started their lives elsewhere? Each one has a sign that tells you where the city acquired that particular street car from. I had some time to kill on my last day in SF and so walked down to the Ferry Building, sat down, and watched the street cars go by.
