as far as yanderes go silver is frankly one of the better ones to catch the attention of, if only because no matter how deeply obsessed he is with you and with being with you he will continue to fall very firmly on the ‘soft yandere’ side of things — to the point where your relationship with him will end up only being minimally impacted by his obsession unless you give him the green light to start acting more severe… or unless his beloved father gets involved and gives him a very firm push in the wrong direction. but even then he’s still shockingly good at respecting your boundaries and wanting to earn your love as opposed to taking it by force like most yanderes would try to do, and that makes it all the more easy to just… let yourself be taken by him in the long run

of course he is still possessive over you to the point where even the slightest insinuation of you feeling fond of another person is enough to leave him restless, anxious, and even physically ill — to the point of somehow evading sleep for the first time in his life and yet being far too distressed to celebrate the occasion until he’s sought you out himself and personally confirmed that the rumours he heard were all fabricated — but his life long talent for keeping a mostly neutral facade and his struggles with showing his emotions outwardly make it difficult to recognise just how possessive he actually is

and it’s clear to anyone who knows him just how much space you occupy in his mind: his roommate hears your name slip from his lips pretty much every night, his seat mate in class swapped their usual cologne for a scent closer to one you use by pure coincidence and his attention snapped to them immediately before his usual tired and outwardly stoic demeanour fell back into place as soon as he registered who he was actually looking at, sebek has called him out more times than he can count for losing focus during their sparring sessions because someone nearby happens to say your name or he saw someone who vaguely looked like you walk past out of the corner of his eye, his father has noticed him taking up a new habit of collecting things that he knows you like or have even previously owned in a sort of shrine (courtesy of cater and kalim’s endless gossiping during club hours) despite never showing any hint of interest in them before you, and even malleus has recognised just how deeply infatuated his dear knight is and has taken to teasing him for becoming so easily distracted as of late

he is, at the end of the day, still a yandere after all. and his softer more comparatively docile and loving nature doesn’t negate his worse traits… it just means that you won’t be seeing them as much as you might expect, that’s all. or, rather, you’re far less likely to notice them when they do show up as he’s much more subtle about them than most

rather than stalking you from a distance and logging your every move with obsessive detail, silver instead asks you outright (with permission from his father and lord malleus, of course) if he may guard you. a duty that he takes with the utmost seriousness, as to be expected from someone who has spent his life training to be precisely that, and which allows him to soothe his deep seated need to be with you all of the time and protect you while having your explicit permission to do so. he’s also terribly professional about the whole thing, treating you with the same reverence that he does malleus (well, arguably even more but his stoic resting face doesn’t exactly give that away) and never once overstepping your boundaries or closing the distance between you no matter how dearly he may wish he could

and rather than claiming you explicitly in some crude and aggressive way — like biting or scenting or forcing you to wear something belonging to him — he merely makes his silent vigile by your side impossible not to notice and gets into the habit of challenging anyone who dares to disrespect you to a fight. a fight that he, having been trained as a knight since his early childhood, is all but guaranteed to win (after all, it would be terribly embarrassing for him to lose in front of you and silver hates few things more than making a fool of himself in front of his loved ones)

he’s also very protective over you — your person, your space, your reputation — and, as mentioned previously, is more than willing and capable of taking matters into his own hands to do whatever he feels is the necessary course of action to keep you safe. and, to not linger too heavily on the point, the main result of this that you’re going to notice is the more aggressive members of the student body suddenly giving you a very wide birth whenever you cross paths… and far more people looking wearily in silver’s direction because they didn’t realise the sleeping beauty of campus was capable of that

to soothe his constant need to be in your presence, aside from his offer to guard you he also frequently invites you to join him alone for study sessions, to observe him when he’s training with sebek, and to spend time with his animal friends (something that lilia actually pushed him to do as a means of winning your heart, and whether or not you feel strongly about him you do have to admit that there’s just something about having a fawn curl up on your lap that made your day that much brighter afterwards…)

and, again, while he is an inherently gentle soul who much prefers to build bridges instead of burning them to the ground — and, thus, seems to lack the violent urges you tend to see in other yanderes — he is still more than capable of causing harm if he deems it necessary and will not hesitate to pull his sword or pen on anyone who he deems as a threat. as mentioned previously. but you won’t really be seeing this side of him often unless you have a habit of getting into trouble, so it’s almost too easy to forget that silver grew up being personally trained in combat by one of briar valley’s most feared soldiers since the days of the thorn fairy
