Sad news aside, music in 2016 was a beast. After Rihanna, Kanye, Beyonce and Drake put out successful records, some newcomers like Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi, and 21 Savage wildly stepped into the spotlight. Gucci got out of Jail. Frank's beautifully hurt songs made me emotional all through the summer. Jeffery. Vince Staples. ATCQ. Solange...

But at the end of the year, I'm still listening to Islah and Purple Reign on repeat. Kevin Gates keeps singing to my soul, and I realized my love for Future's melodic, nihilistic style is even stronger now after his legendary run from Monster to DS2. Both projects will never win any award but won my heart.
