while benny also calls cas THE angel in this scene, i think it's because cas calls him THE vampire

it's a two-way thing where they both refuse to call the other by name, only be species. benny is undoubtedly VERY aware that the angel is really dean's angel - case in point with this scene where benny calls cas dean's "buddy," putting a special emphasis on the way he says "buddy"

pretty sure the reason for that goes back to this scene in 8x02 and benny realising that they might be a bit more than buddies but are probably in denial

Dean: *looks around awkwardly* I said he was a boy who was a friend.

Mary: *looks at Sam* Do you remember him making that distinction?
