5)  Sharing subject matter but going about it in significantly different ways, Westworld S2 dialled the tricksy drama up to 11.0 whilst Humans S3 was more about the nuanced slow-burn (and, arguably, more thought-provoking come the equally revelatory finales). I may be cheating a little here allowing for a joint fifth favourite of the year, but as a sucker for synth-based sci-fi, I feel this best of list is big enough for the both of 'em.

4)  They say you should never outstay your welcome and to stop when you're at the top; two phrases that could well be applied to Daredevil S3. Well... justice never stops, so I'm sure we'll meet the Man without Fear in the MCU again.

3)  I put off watching Cobra Kai for the longest time as, like many big kids my age, The Karate Kid was a major component of my childhood and I feared this sequel series would wax off its reputation. Thankfully, my fears were proven unfounded as this balanced show first struck my nostalgic head, before hard striking my sentimental heart. No mercy.

2)  What Sharp Objects lacked in narrative unpredictability it made up for characterisation and performance, especially that of Amy Adams as damaged lead Camille. Point me in the direction of another actress the equal of Adams and I'll tell you why you're wrong.

1)  Legion S2 was not without its flaws, but for me there wasn't an equal in 2018 for Noah Hawley's heel turn exploring Marvel of a show in terms of art direction inventiveness, bravura direction and consummate acting.
