Reflection #3 âAdolescence stageâ
Today, we took 3 lessons. These are âBeing Mindful With The Selfâ âEntering the Phase of Middle and Late Adolescence â & âPeer Social Comparisonâ
In our first lesson that is âBeing mindful with the selfâ what I learned about this is we, the people, are more cautious of what we say with the people who we are talking to. We are more mindful of what we say, or sometimes we check our physical appearance if we look presentable or not. In this lesson also we tend to learn how to take care of our mind and body. And it is very nice that we know these things because of what is happening right now, we are isolated and canât do anything so I am glad that I know these things.
Our second lesson is âEntering The Phase of Middle and Late Adolescenceâ. So there are three Domain of Development namely Physical Development, Cognitive Development, and Socioemotional Development what I can relate to this is Physical Development. Why? Because back when I was in Grade 7, I was really, really thin and I love my body. At that time when Grade 8 came I was very shocked by the changes in my body. The good thing and bad thing, well the good thing is I am taller than the bad thing is I am fat, well at that time for me being fat is taboo or more like âuglyâ or âunwantedâ so I feel so hopeless like I didnât know what to do and what to react. But as time goes by I have learned to love myself well, there are times that I will feel sad but who cares, this is me. I am happy but not fully, still content with who I am today.
So, for the last lesson, we tackle âPeer Social Comparisonâ so there is this question here in our ppt that says âWhy do Adolescents compareâ and I want to answer this. Well, for me we tend to compare ourselves with other people mainly because we see the standard that we set for ourselves to others, which means we see things that we want but we, the individual cannot achieve it. And we tend to be more insecure and down for this. But in time we will realize that there are bigger things in this world than the attributes that we want to achieve. And I do hope in time we will embrace the flaws in ourselves and being grateful for what the Creator gave to us.
I will leave you this quote (itâs from our ppt) âIf you correct your mind, the rest of your life will fall into placeâ by Lao Tzu.
Iâm sharing this album because it can relate to our new lesson and Itâs My favorite album of Rex Orange Country. Please do take time on listening to this musicâ¤ď¸
