Despite these horrific times around the world, one thing I am truly blessed and grateful for are the remarkable connections I’ve made throughout my travels in Colombia. Before I left for my 3-month trip, I remember someone asking me, “Why am I traveling alone?” I remember pausing and questioning myself for a split second, then remembering what I’ve known for the past decade as an avid traveler who frequently travels “alone”. Firstly, I never travel alone because I’ve learned to become my own best friend, as everyone should try to learn. Secondly, I am traveling by myself, not “alone”! Finally, I now trust the universe. Once you realize this, and have faith in the universe, it guides you to people, places, and experiences that match your vibration. So during a 3-month journey around Colombia, I was never really “alone”, my days were filled with much laughter with new friends, who quickly became good friends, bonded by like experiences and instant connections. That’s why I travel by myself, to rediscover my faith in humanity. To rediscover myself and what I bring to the world. Yesterday I met one of my idols @meghan_trainor while she was performing on the @todayshow and it was truly a life-changing experience. Today, I found out I was featured on her instagram because I left her a #shoutout on #video for her since her brother was recording the whole experience. Not only did Meghan interact with her fans on a personal level but personally she acknowledged me, held my hand twice, hugged me, took photos with me, signed my poster, and actually had a brief convo with me. I was blown away at how personal she gets with her fans who truly adore and admire her because she’s so extremely talented but yesterday she proved to me how extraordinary she truly is. Never has a celebrity ever given me so much personal time and acknowledged me in such an intimate way. She made me feel like she was a friend and not some big untouchable idol.
