it feels like having chronic pain truly means thereâs no exact way to do it right. do too much and youâll flare up, do too little and everything will feel stiff and achy. do the exact right amount? hah! funny youâd think that exists
You can't fake something unintentionally or unconsciously.
Faking an experience is done with full knowledge and conscious intent on your part of what you are doing.
If something is happening to you unintentionally, if you are doing something and unconsciously, you are having a legitimate experience of some kind.
If you're faking something, you're doing it deliberately. Faking something isn't something that just happens to you. An experience is something that just happens to you.
reminder
chronic pain come with fun bonus features! like not being able to tell how much pain is still acceptable when you get injured and at what points itâs emergency room worthy!
it's crazy how many health services are harder to access when you're sick/disabled like hi yes if you want an appointment please make a phone call at 8am and then go to an in person appointment and then you may get referred to a specialist three hours away. this is surely fair and balanced yes yes.

my joints barely hurting until i get into a comfortable position in bed, trying to sleep has to be some cruel joke on meâŚ
sorry for the spam i just really like your blog. I'm still accepting the fact that i have chronic pain, and have for years, and that it's probably not gonna get better. ever. so your blog is good to see
iâm sorry, i put this in my drafts so it doesnât get lost in tumblr limbo (bc i lose access to asks sometimes for some reason) but absolutely no need to apologise, i donât mind! iâm glad you like it!!
i made this blog for that reason tbh! i needed a place to yap about it freely & slowly come to accept it.
again, no worries! and also thank you!! iâm really glad this blog is enjoyable for people in similar places as me :)
"oh i've worked in pain like this before im just being a child not working through it agai-" bitch it was inhumane when you worked during it before. get a heating pad and get into bed.
Hey if you have chronic pain, you gotta remember that the cognitive load of dealing with that is exhausting. Just that alone. Never mind what else you've got going on.
You're not lazy or being dramatic; you're overloaded.
me: uses my cane
âoh no what happened?â
me: âiâm chronically ill, the mobility aid helpsâ
âoh god, i hope you get better soonâ
me: âi wonât. itâs chronic. like iâll have it my entire life.â
âoh okay, well⌠i hope you get well soon!â
me: âit probably wonât.â
âwell, i hope you get better soon!â
me: âi wonât. it-â

what is it with able bodied people saying âget well soonâ after you say that youâre chronically ill?? like? i am not gonna? and i once literally responded with âiâm not gonna, itâs chronic, as in permanent.â and they went like âoh well, hope you get better!â like bro đ
"able-bodied" doesn't mean "able-minded"
very true!
however, who i was talking about isnât a stranger, i see them regularly and am certain they know âpermanentâ means i wonât become healthy again ^^
unless itâs someone i know, i typically just thank the person wishing me to become well again. since they donât really need to know, but with people i know/see regularly, i donât want there to be false expectations/hopesâŚ
but an important addition nonetheless!
when I'm told those these of things, but brain just freezes up because I don't know how to respond.
like- I want to say something to emotionally support them in the moment, but you know what I mean when I say "how do I say that"âright?
just IMO, but someone freezing when I tell them I have a chronic illness would actually be more comforting than an instantaneous default response, because it at least shows they care about what they say.
am I weird for that?
not weird at all!
people taking a moment to give a response can make it feel like they actually thought about what you said and how they should respond, instead of feeling like theyâre giving a copy-paste response. it feels more personal!
personally, i think thatâs relatable
