Happy Easter: a break from the mourn

in honour of the Hyperfashionmum, 1929-2026

I have been wearing only black, white, grey and purple since the Hyperfashionmum died.

I was looking for the next monochrome thing in my wardrobe and Margot’s yellow blouse came up.

I got hold of the Adam Lippes blouse via TheRealReal some time ago, but hadn’t worn it yet.

I found a few substitutes for this blouse but it wasn’t easy. Almost all yellow floral prints have some orange or brown in them. It’s nearly unheard of to find a yellow floral print with grey instead of brown.

Because today is Easter Day, because Christ is risen, I decided to take a day off from mourning, and wear some yellow to let the light shine. Because the Hyperfashionmum is living forever now, and it’s only my limited perspective that I can’t see it.

The Hyperfashionmum was, in every way, my greatest enabler.

I don’t think the Hyperfashionmum ever saw me in this. I’m not even sure I showed it to her when I unboxed it. I’m pretty sure I know what her reaction would have been, though. Disapproval that I spent money, followed by heart eyes at the outfit in action.

I will never have the satisfaction of showing her this. Not in this life, at least, and I assume I can’t take it with me.

How splendidly the Hyperfashionmum must be clothed now. One day I will see her with my own eyes, but that feels like such a long, long way off now.
