but objectively speaking, a video game Depends on the gameplay. you cant have a game without gameplay, thats why that one 'mixtape' game going around is getting so much flak. this is why i think a lot of arguments irt devsis' recent failures being 'just add a story mode to ovensmash!' or 'give toa a better story!' falls flat because these are two games who should not be carried by story, they should be carried by gameplay. hell even witches castle falls into this too because 99% of match 3/candy crush players are Not there for the story

ovensmash cannot be carried by a story if the gameplay is bad or the servers suck because the gameplay IS the fun. the fun of a MOBA is playing the game, cooperating with your teammates to win the match and get as perfect a match as possible. league's lore in-game is usually relegated to side events that arent in the main game itself, or little story blurbs, or even just side games inside the launcher. but its never the game itself. thats a different thing

its the same thing with TOA, most people dont care about the story because its the gameplay that carries it. its trying to do a raid as quickly and efficiently as possible or doing a story mode level as perfectly as possible.

I don't wanna clog your mailbox with a giant ass paragraph of my evidence and arguments as to why i think current OB Matcha is more kingdomfied than the old OB Matcha (less you want to explain that to understand me furder), so ill say it in short:

I've noticed they have been erasing her uncontrollable laughter and changed the way she spoke. One could argue its to have an easier time writing, but then i'lld argue its on the devs for even making a more creatively demanding character. They would also silently erase her powers (on of which is her ability to summon cake hands like her mother, they would change her personality to make her more tropey than dimensional, and gone to actually retcon the fact she was kicked out of the CoD so they can put her back to match kingdom.

I really miss old Matcha, cuz she (even with smaller appearances) felt like a character to me, rather than a device to promote a game more (the town square for kingdom) or just a Licorice 2.0 (current OB)

But i do want your opinion on it, have you felt that change as well or did you not notice it as much? Do you actually like the new direction and see my view as rose tinted? i am mainly asking you since there's hardly any other old head in the fandom and you are very vocal about devsis's writing in general

i dont really have much context on current matcha compared to old matcha (even if old matcha was.... well barely a character), so yes i do think id need a bit more context, but i do have to say im not exactly a fan of what they did to matcha.

now i have to admit that YES, a lot of what 'matcha fans' (as i used to be) liked about matcha was an IF or WHEN. matcha barely had anything for years, a lot of us thought she was basically abandoned by devsis, but the implications of her story were interesting. this is before kingdom, so before dentress got retconned to being half of whily, so back in the day we all assumed (actually i think this was in her bio at one point?) that dentress was directly baked by the witches, and the implication was that matcha was a failed attempt at baking dentress.

(so basically back then we headcanonned that matcha was dentress' sister, which i will say right now, i VASTLY prefer this than being her daughter)

also, the lack of any proper lore meant that a lot of us wondered what could happen in matchas story next. me personally? i always assumed she would rebel against dentress and the witches. i especially liked the idea of her being taken in by milltree and the churro village. apparently her rebellion is canon in kingdom, so thats something. again, matcha was the potential woman of crob. lots of headcanons because she was such an empty character back then.

but yeah i get what you mean. i HATE that they made her talk so much. she also spoke in crob, but it was to a much lesser extent, and i think it was an interesting way to write a character. in kingdom it feels like she speaks too much? and they write her laughing fits way less too, like compare her negative reactions in crob vs kingdom.

originally the implication of her laughing fits was that they were uncontrollable, but now its more like she does it on purpose, if that makes any sense. at least from the little exposure ive had of kingdom matcha, i might be wrong.

also, i just heard her english voice, and youre fucking kidding me, right? she sounds like a....... child????? why? is matcha supposed to be a child? that was never the vibes i got at all! i always thought she'd be old like dentress, but what grandma sounds like a 7 year old... ? with that knowledge, it feels like shes laughing just because shes a child.... thats not nearly as interesting as before.

and matcha is... in the CoD? really? i never thought she'd be in the CoD at all, i always assumed she was more off to the side and just close because of dentress. thats lame! not every cookie closely associated with dentress needs to be in the CoD i dont think. in my eyes matcha was more like a wildcard that went as she pleases.

So the story revolves around the CoD, Butter roll and his scientists trying to make the ultimate cookie, with failure after failure. The story starts with the scientists reporting to butter roll how a failed dough escaped and caused commotion to the faerie Kingdom. Meanwhile Matcha would eavesdrop on their conversation (she does this a lot in the story) and after Butter Roll goes outside to collect the dough and hide evidence of the lab's existence Matcha... goes with him... for some reason.

Mind you.... this is the first impressions of her, already you can see how there's no laughter from her, which already breaks the Matcha we know.

To continue, DE and Pomegranate would discuss the prosses, as Pommy says how the 664th step has complications, with the dough not accepting life powder, DE just tells her that they shouldn't rush the prosses, and how her labor will bare fruits. Basically Exposition with Pommy glazing DE on the side. Before the cutscene ends, Matcha would talk to herself, believing what she would do would make them livid (ill reveal it as i continue telling the story) before not deciding on eavesdropping on the others again.

The next cutscene would show us some interactions with the scientists and the CoD members. In this one we get to learn that Butter Roll was Kidnapped by the CoD for the experiment, but oddly enough, he is more than happy to have been kidnapped and do the project. Its stated that so far, 97 experiments failed for reasons unknown, yet Butter Roll keeps his charisma and high spirits, not hesitating on disposing the failed dough. (will skip around to just were Matcha is)

So Matcha would eavesdrop on Pomegranate's convo with one of the scientists, wishing that you could extract life powder from the failed experiments to reuse, and how Dark Moon magic was used in one of the batches... but failed. Pommy would call out Matcha for eavesdropping and then we will get this set of dialogue...

.... you see why i don't like Kingdom's Matcha? Pommy and the scientist would shortly ignore Matcha are offer some solutions to the problem, as they cant do anything if the dough isn't alive or even dead. When Matcha says she isnt being listened, Pommy tells her to stop mumbling if she wants to be heard.

We are then shown Licorice, who is on cleaning duty with Poison Mushroom, In her its nothing notable, its just Matcha telling PM do grow (she already forgot her eavesdropping mission) while Licoirce stresses about cleaning stuff from her messes (.... by just existing...)

Then we have a notable interaction between her and Butter Roll, Butter Ro wont stop obsessing over her missing ingredient, not paying attention to the fact she feels uncomfortable about it and outright doesn't want to know whats missing in her.

Now in the next cutscene, we are shown Matcha in the sewers, having her own place with her own equipment to make dough and whatnot. You see, the reason why she wanted to eavesdrop and go with butter roll is because she wants to make the perfect dough for the beast cookies/ultimate cookie. Why does she want to succeed in making the perfect dough before the rest, so they can prove to them that she is in fact better than them!!!

the segment has her just mumble about how they will be furious when her tea leaf seeds in the dough and make the beast cookies that way, it also has a bit where she talks to her many planted tea leaves, asking why she was created now i made a cut of the video (sadly cant u so you can watch her dialogue since there's a lot, but i believe that this dialogue can tell you just how focused they are on mod making Matcha, Matcha.

As their 99th batch shows promise, now knowing the ratio from the 98th dough, they celebrate as they put the dough in the beaker for safe keeping, so they can make beast cookies! When Poison Mushroom notices Matcha in distress, the ask if Matcha is ok, only foe her to loudly say no.

Butter Roll (still optimistic) tells her not to damage the lab equipment (as she seems to be tempering with them). She goes on to say that they dont deserve to be happy, only for Licorice to say that he knew all along that Matcha wasnt in for the research

But Butter Roll still thinks she is after her missing ingredient (even when told its not true)

As they restrain Matcha Cookie, he would throw the dough into the baker, letting it how rise before further tempering with it, everybody is relieved that the dough is now secure. Matcha comments on how if they succeed in making the beast cookies, they can make the ultimate cookie, to which Licorice says the the lab is open at al times and that it would the next logical step.

With her plans now ruined, she mumbles about being ignored yet again, shunned, never to be recognized or noticed, everything down the chute (yes, she says this), so in the last dich effort to be noticed, she summons her tea leaf seeds and attacks the equipment, causing explosions.

Everyone is now panicking, as one of the beakers that kept life powder is had cracks, risking the powder getting into batch 100, Butter Roll batches it easly, until Matcha decided to go for the mixer, highly sensitive machine that exploded by just one tea least seed. Its even worse by the fact that batch 100 was in there, and now its gone.

Now with the lab ruined, batch 100 is gone and the whole ceiling was destroyed along side their research Matcha celebrates as she sees that finally they are paying attention to her

Butter Roll and Pomegranate discuss the conditions of the beaker and dough 99, lucky DE casted a spell on the beaker beforehand, so batch 99 is safe and sound. Unfortunately tho, some equipment broke, including the breaker that contained Life powder, which would mean that they have to recollect it.

they decided to keep this disaster a secret from DE, for them and Matcha cookie. As Macha continues to celebrate, Butter Roll does comment on how he didn't know she had that kind of power in her, he was kind of impressed, Pommy agree she has potential, but as she says, however wasted.

and the cutscene ends with the members and scientists cleaning up and recovering any working equipment, while Matcha still celebrates.

But the story doesnt end here, it ends when they shwo you were batch 100 ended up at:

This is Batch 100, also known as Mycookie that you control in the town square mode of the game, Gingerbrave and the gang saw it fall from the sky like a shooting star, and end up being surprised that its a baby.

this baby would be later on used to promote MyCookie be having Cream Ferret raise the baby when they came out.

yeah i saw, and i wanted to post about it yesterday, but i heard about it as i was going to sleep and my computer was already off... and i got logged out of my account on mobile lmfao (i use this account on the browser instead of the app, and didnt feel like turning on my computer just to log back on)

Tags are an ecosystem in themselves on Tumblr. People write entire thoughts in there, there are inside jokes, people borrow tags, there are entire discussions in there that the original poster can see. They can see how people are interacting with their post, what they are adding to it. All that just lost.

It kills the community spirit and collaborative efforts by the users.

Content creators won't create. Why are they going to spend hours making gifs, memes, informational post when they have no idea how people are interacting with it. Those original creaters will actually get the least amounts of notes. They won't create anymore because they won't see those lovely comments or tags praising their work.

People are not going to go back to the original poster and reblog from there just so the OP can get the notes.
