To the people who support the current administration: in several years time you’ll be saying shit like, “oh I never supported this” or “I didn’t think this would happen”. We WILL remember and we WILL make sure you live with the shame of what you allowed to happen for the rest of your lives.

This (is halloween) special post is part of the Twisted Parents Series.
Content: Post-canon, fem!afab!MC, fluffy, family & children, my type of humor, references to the Scary Monsters Twisted Wonderland Halloween Event, mentions of childbirth (?) (one paragraph only), usual cuteness 💞
Note(s): I got lost in the middle of the drafts for this month, I'm dead 😭 This is supposedly an old one but I was so busy and today I decided to review it before posting and I practically changed everything in it 💀 dividers from here and here.
Comments and reblogs are very welcome ♡
There was something in the Halloween air of Twisted Wonderland that made everything more vibrant, more energetic… and, in Princess Aurora Draconia's opinion, more irritating.
The princess, just turned sixteen — a complicated phase for any human being... except that she is half fae. More than half fae, a dragon fae.
Her black hair was a bit disheveled, and her green eyes sparkled with irritation. She wore a dark blue silk nightgown, what she always wear to sleep actually.
"Good morning, Princess," one of the maids ventured. Aurora merely snorted, passing her without responding. The mere expression on her face was enough to make the servants cringe.
At the head of the table, [Name], the queen, sipped her coffee calmly, steam rising from the cup in gentle spirals. Her calm smile contrasted completely with her daughter morning bad mood.
"Ah, are you awake yet, Aurora? Did you sleep well?" she asked, serene.
"No," came the dry reply.
[Name] looked unfazed. "Hm? And why not? What happened?"
"There were ghosts making noise on the roof of my room. All. Night." Aurora crossed her arms, her expression one of pure disdain.
The queen tried to contain her laughter, but failed. Her smile widened as she stirred sugar into her cup. "Well, dear, it's Halloween. It's only natural for them to be happy at a time reserved for them."
Aurora let out a dramatic sigh, tossing her hair to the side. "I hate Halloween."
Somewhere poor Skully surely felt a pang.
[Name] bit her lower lip, fighting the urge to laugh. "Aurora, don't say that..."
"There are no ghosts in your world, are there, mom?" Aurora snapped. "I want to go there."
Before [Name] could respond, a deep, smooth voice echoed through the room.
"Now... is anyone unhappy with Halloween?" Aurora turned and saw her father standing. Malleus's green eyes — identical to hers —glimmered with restrained amusement. "That's an interesting counterpoint," he continued, "since your younger brothers seem delighted with the holiday."
Aurora raised an eyebrow just as two small hurricanes invaded the kitchen.
"BOO!" Kyrval shouted, covered in a white sheet with poorly made holes that weren't even in the position of his eyes. Magnus laughed as he ran around the table, being "haunted" by his brother.
"Boys, don't run, you'll hurt yourselves!" [Name] warned, but it was too late. Kyrval tripped on the sheet and nearly fell to the stone floor, if not for Malleus's magic quick intervention.
A green aura that enveloped his son in midair, stopping him from falling. Kyrval floated for a few seconds before landing softly on the ground.
"Dad! Do it again!" the boy begged excitedly.
"Not now Kyrval," Malleus replied. "Once is enough."
"Uwaaaa, but I want it again!"
“Come here, you little devils.” Malleus grabbed each of the twins by the arms with impressive ease. Magnus and Kyrval were still laughing, swinging their legs in the air, completely unconcerned. “Didn’t you let the maids get you ready today?” he asked, looking from one to the other with that air of mock seriousness. He left, carrying his children under his arms, as if carrying two noisy sacks of flour.
[Name] watched the scene with a fond smile. When the sound of voices faded in the distance, she turned back to the table, where Aurora remained seated, her chin resting on her hand, a bored look on her face.
[Name] stifled a laugh. "I'm sure you know why Halloween is the way it is in Twisted Wonderland, don't you?"
Aurora shrugged with a huff. "It still unbearable having to entertain mischievous and annoying ghosts."
[Name] raised her eyebrows, adopting that expression of affectionate pity only mothers could muster. "Well, my favorite part of this holiday isn't the ghosts either."
Aurora looked away to the window, where the morning mist shrouded the castle gardens. "Oh, really? It's the sweets, then?"
"Good guess, but no." [Name] laughed softly. "It's the memories."
The princess frowned. "Memories?"
"Yes." [Name] set down her cup, leaning slightly over the table. "You know your father and I met and fell in love during our time at Night Raven College, right?"
Aurora grumbled, rolling her eyes. "Ugh, of course I did. You guys never let me forget that."
[Name] laughed again, shaking her head. "Well, a lot of things happened during Halloweens there. Fantastic and incredible things–"
"Of course it did, mom," Aurora interrupted, crossing her arms. "You're not from here. It's natural to marvel at anything magical in the first times."
[Name] held up a finger. “You didn’t let me finish, young lady.”
Aurora arched an eyebrow, interested despite herself.
“Not-so-amazing things happened too,” [Name] continued, her voice softening. “But even the scary, confusing, or sad parts became fond memories later. They taught me so much… about this world, about friendship, and…” her smile widened a bit, “About your dad.”
Aurora was going to roll her eyes again, but honestly... she'd be lying if she said it didn't make her curious. And [Name] notice.
“Come with me, dear.”
“Where?”
“I want to show you something.”
Aurora walked with her arms crossed, still curious, though she did her best to appear disinterested. [Name], on the other hand, seemed cheerful.
As soon as they entered the room, [Name] went straight to the dark wooden cabinet beside the bed. There was a light layer of dust on the top shelf, and she had to stand on tiptoe to reach a rectangular box encased in a gentle preservation charm.
“Here it is…” she murmured, Aurora watched curiously.
“Is this… a book?”
“Almost.” [Name] sat on the edge of the bed and patted the mattress, motioning her daughter closer. “Come, sit with me.” Aurora obeyed, her brow still furrowed. As soon as her mother opened the object, she realized it wasn't an book, but an album-shaped box.
Inside, several photos. Polaroids, were carefully stored. [Name] smiled fondly as she ran her fingers along the edges of the photographs.
"These are many," she began. "But these ones are from high school."
Aurora leaned closer, her eyes scanning the small images. In some, she recognized familiar faces. Lilia, smiling exaggeratedly; Silver, sleepy; Sebek, with an expression so serious it was almost comical; and even Rosehearts, the pediatrician who had examined her as a child two times at least.
"Of course, we took them all on our cell phones, but Lilia wanted to print them on polaroid."
"Mmm," Aurora commented, crossing her legs on the bed. "It's just like Grandpa Lilia, really."
[Name] laughed in agreement and flipped through a few photos until she settled on one in particular. "And these..." she murmured, her smile growing warmer, "are from my first Halloween at school."
Aurora leaned closer, leaning in for a better look. They were photos of a group of costumed students, laughing, posing in front of the decorated gates of Night Raven College.
But one photo in particular caught her eye. In it, [Name] and Malleus stood side by side. Her mother smiled broadly, wearing an elegant costume — a witch, adorned with glittering details. As for the father… Aurora blinked. Twice.
“What… what is that dad is wearing?” she asked, her expression split between disbelief and sheer astonishment.
[Name] needed a moment to catch her breath from the laugh that escaped. “It’s the traditional Diasomnia costume. I told you about it before, remember?”
“Is that the traditional Diasomnia costume?” Aurora asked, still staring at the photo as if trying to understand how it existed.
“Every year,” [Name] explained trying — and failing — to hold back laughter, “the dorms compete to see who can come up with the scariest and other things to welcome guests. ‘Terror is trending’.”
“And dad thought it was scary?” Aurora asked.
[Name] gave an amused chuckle. “Well… I can't remember if it was Diasomnia who chose the costumes or if they were traditional... either way, aren't they charming?”
Aurora looked at the photo again. Malleus posing for the photo, with claws and teeth showing.
"Charming?" Aurora said. "Mom, is ridiculous."
"Oh, don't say that in front of your dad, he'll be upset!" [Name] replied, laughing.
Aurora ended up laughing too, her first of the day. She quickly covered her mouth, trying to hide the sound, but the sparkle in [Name]'s eyes betrayed her joy.
"Oh? Was that a giggle I heard from my grumpy little one?" the queen teased, with that sweet tone.
"I'm not grumpy," the girl replied, trying to sound firm, but the smile insisted on appearing.
“No?” [Name] arched an eyebrow, her playful smile widening. “So what was that ‘I hate Halloween’ thing from earlier?”
Aurora sighed and rolled her eyes. “Okay, maybe I overreacted a bit.”
She picked up another photo from the album, looking more closely at a picture of Malleus, Lilia, and a few other Diasomnia students posing together in front of a huge pumpkin. "Just a bit."
"Darling?" That voice called from the other side of the door.
[Name] rose slightly, still clutching the album. "Ah, I'm here, Malleus."
The door opened, and the king of Briar Valley entered. Behind him, Magnus and Kyrval tried to peer over their father's legs, with the energy of two kittens, which they honestly looked more like than dragons.
"Mom!" Magnus exclaimed, already approaching. "What is it?"
“Old photos, from when your father and I were in school,” [Name] replied, carefully opening the album.
“Let me see! I want to see!” Kyrval practically jumped on the bed, almost knocking Aurora over, who quickly slid aside so he wouldn’t hurt himself.
Malleus leaned over, examining the photos. A smile escaped. “Ah… the time at Night Raven College…”
“Show me! Show me! Show me!” Magnus squeezed into his mother’s arms, his eyes widening as he saw the photo of his father striking that exaggeratedly creepy pose, fangs exposed.
“What’s dad wearing? He looks funny!” He exclaimed, leaning over the photo.
Malleus lifted his chin proudly. “They’re costumes inspired by the lóng, dragon-like creatures from the Far East. And I must say: I was the one who chose the costumes that year.”
Aurora stared at him, her eyes somewhere between incredulous and amused. “You did?”
“Naturally.” Malleus nodded. “I wanted our performance to reflect the grandeur of the dormitory.”
Aurora blinked once. Then again. Then she couldn’t hold it in any longer. She burst out laughing. Kyrval and Magnus immediately joined in, laughing alongside their sister.
Malleus, indignant, gave the little pout [Name] knew so well, crossing his arms and staring at his children with an expression of disapproval.
“What’s so funny?” he asked, his low, serious voice contrasting with the small, childish gesture.
Aurora, between giggles, managed to reply, "Did you think this was going to be 'imposing'?"
Malleus huffs slightly, but couldn't hide the smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Hmph. You don't understand the true concept of imposing."
"That's because dad's already a dragon!" Magnus said, pointing at him. "It would be much scarier if you transformed and went raaaaaaw!" Magnus's improvised roar was so exaggerated and loud that everyone burst out laughing again.
“I spent almost a whole day trying to squeeze these children out of my body and they’re all little dragon hatchlings? Unfair, I say!” [Name] exclaimed.
"You always pull that card, mom," Aurora grumbled, lying in her side.
"Oh. And you're the one who started this whole thing, young lady, with your morning grumpiness!" [Name] replied in amusement. "So? Do you still think Halloween is just annoying?"
Aurora thought for a moment. "Okay... I guess it could be cool. But I never did anything like you and dad did at school."
"I'm sure one day you'll have experiences as incredible as, if not more so than, your mother's and mine, Aurora," Malleus said, looking at his daughter tenderly. Then a spark of insight flashed through his eyes. "Actually… we can make a little Halloween plan ourselves. I've always wanted to see the Boreas of the neighboring kingdom. They say they're even more beautiful on Halloween."
Magnus and Kyrval's eyes lit up instantly. "Can we go, dad?! Can we, can we?!" they nearly screamed together, jumping on the bed.
"Well…" Malleus looked up, now with a glint of playful mischief. "Only if your sister agrees to come along."
Aurora crossed her arms, trying to look firm, but the smile tugging at the corners of her mouth betrayed. "Mm. If this is a formal invitation... it would be rude to refuse. Wouldn't it, dad?"
"Oho," Malleus smirk, making a small gesture with his hand. "Then it's decided."
[Name] smiled happily. "Looks like Halloween will be even more memorable this year."

Whew, this picture was a doozy! I thought painting it would be easier than drawing and inking it, but I was wrong! It felt like his colors were a little different depending on whether I was looking at his in-game model or official art. I had my heart set on being more experimental with the colors, since I’ve been enjoying doing gradients lately. Things that were supposed to be gray became purple. And things that were supposed to be teal became a spectrum from teal to purple. I ended up making the picture more teal and purple than blue! I asked myself whether there was any actual blue in this picture, and then I added more blue to his armor. There was a stage where his pants looked good, but I messed it up by adding turquoise to the highlights before letting the rest of it dry, so his pants turned out a bit splotchier than I would like. After sleeping on it, and after getting some very uplifting comments, I like the picture a lot better now that it's done! It's a shame the process of creating it wasn't as fun and carefree as it could be, but now that I've gotten used to drawing him, the next one should be more enjoyable! Also, I'll get some more pens. Next time, I'll draw him with his beautiful periwinkle eyes open! <3 PS. Look closely to see his white eyeshadow! There's glitter in it, but it's hard to see it in the scan.
