The young miko turned to see what Inuyasha was referring too.

“Huh? Hey! I’ve been looking for that!” 

She exclaimed, marching over to take back the book but stops as soon as she reached for it. Kagome sighed and took a seat beside him instead.

“Might as well be. It’s called Calculus, it’s a type of math I have to learn but honestly I barley understand it myself.”

            As she settled down beside him, he glanced at her over his shoulder and unconsciously shifted the book a bit so that she could see the pages as well, hoping she would be able to explain the foreign runes to him -- but no such luck, it seemed, and he turned back to the text with more distaste than before etched in the wrinkle of his nose.

            ( サンゴ ) —- She had tried ignoring him; key word being TRIED because for the last three hours, that’s all she’s heard about. Of course she knew the hanyo was both verbal and physical when it came to working out his problems — and being stubborn and cranky was one thing, but….

                       “Are you going to be like this the WHOLE time?”

            The sudden and unexpected irritation in her response jarred the half demon out of his own loathsome musings, and he swiftly redirected his own agitation towards the woman perched on the fallen tree at his side.

            ❝ --The hell’s your problem? That perverted monk try to stick his good hand up your skirt again or something? ❞

            ❝ -- Kagome, what are these weird markings in your book? Are they spells, or modern day curses or something? ❞

「巫女」::   It was the cutest thing watching him do that~Though she could imagine it may be difficult even if he didn’t know all the fruits she was listing-cause a bunch of the colors on the syrups wouldn’t exactly belie what flavors they were. 

                       She giggled as he asked about the Hawaii one anyway.::

                                         “Nah, Hawaii is a place–Blue Hawaii is a fruity alcoholic drink~It’s got pineapple, rum sweet and sour mix~ and sometimes vodka…Not sure you’d *like* that one anyway~”

                    :: She blinked then, as he tore himself away from the glass to take stock of the shaved ice still in her hand–and sweat dropped as he leaned down and literally BIT the whole top of it right off…::

                                        “Uh–watch out for brain freeze doing that…”

            The half demon drew back, folding his arms into the ample sleeves of his haori as he turned the sweetened ice over on his tongue, intrigued by the foreign flavor and only half listening as she explained the nature of the “Hawaii” one to him. 

            ❝ -- huh? That’s a load of crap. How the hell can you freeze your -- ❞

She took his bashfulness as contempt, misinterpreting his lack of a gaze as discomfort, the heat of his face and truer emotions hidden away by those temporary raven locks. Her hand withdrew slightly at this notion, a barely visible motion but she was sure he had felt it–her recalculation, delicate fingers all but straying as they awaited his reply with restlessness.  

She…did not afflict him the way purity had always? What could that possible conclude? Was it possible he had grown a resistance to her holy presence? Or did it mean that her spiritual ability had weakened? Throughout her training, she had always been warned away from distractions, for they could have a grave impact on her ability to serve as a priestess, but that couldn’t be so…now could it? Banish the thought

It shouldn’t have been so, but his words carried a rare substance with them, his voice lingering in her mind long after he had already spoken, Kikyo mauling over them, analyzing, assessing them–overthinking when she had always been one to act swiftly; it felt strange to hesitate and play out multiple scenarios before proceeding. 

“Something must be wrong then…” she muttered, withdrawing her hand, eyebrows half-knitted in thought. “You should not be able to share my company with such ease.” It was dangerous for both of them if the bright red of danger ceased to alarm them and if instead, they drew closer despite of the warnings.

            The sudden absence of her touch was so palpable to him that he cursed himself for it, flexing his fingers in an attempt to keep them from reaching out to take her own back -- what the hell was wrong with him?? He was supposed to despise this woman, this holy witch who had humiliated him over and over again ; who solely stood in the way of his transformation into a full-fledged demon! Biting down on the inside of his cheek with his dull, human teeth, his hand flew up to scratch at the back of his head in embarrassed frustration, blind to her own inner turmoil.

It wasn’t only in his gestures, Kagome could swear she felt a twinge of irritation rise into the air as all they could do was wait for the kettle to make its eerie cry when it had boiled the water within. She wasn’t quite sure what it was about ramen that Inu-Yasha just couldn’t get enough of; was it the excessive salt content? Did dogs even like salt..? Ramen was convenient but Kagome didn’t particularly favor it more than a real meal–

His questions instantly brought hesitation to her mind, Kagome seeing it as a method for him to know when he would have to stop her next. He had tried once already to hinder a return, the school girl barely making it in time for an exam, luckily twenty or so good ‘sit’ incantations had stopped him from pulling her back to his era. With obvious mistrust, she replied, glancing over at him to see how it would be received. 

“On the 12th, about two weeks from today. I have an English proficiency test to take.“ Not that he cared about the particulars, but a faint part of her hoped that mentioning exactly what she had to return for would validate the reason even more.

            Snowy white brows furrowed over his halcyon eyes, lack of understanding evident in his gaze as his ears swiped back and forth in confusion. What the hell was she talking about? His usual ire and spite in the face of her insisting on returning to her own time was sidelined by his own curiosity.

      HOWL WIND LINGERS WITHIN THE HORIZON; the remnants of malevolence fades onto cerulean hues, as their enemy’s incarnate disappeared from view. Her porcelain hand can only grip her yumi tighter, despite the obvious composure that dominates the Miko’s visage. Indeed, Naraku has grown weak… but even then, Kikyo understood that he was as meticulous as ever, even willing to use himself if it meant achieving his greatest desire in completing the sacred jewel and destroying her in the process. He was no fool, and yet she sympathizes with Inuyasha to a much higher regard. 

       ❝ —Do you intend on going after him? ❞ Even knowing perfectly well, that this could very well be a trap for both himself and his allies? Her darken gaze amends to his own, her silence only conveying her disagreement towards his intent. ❝Weaken he may be, but defenseless he is not.❞

            The intention behind her words doesn’t escape him, and his canine ears lay back flat against his waxen hair in stark disapproval, the chapped corner of his mouth down-turned with the weight of the situation at hand. The sharp cut of his talons burns the heel of his palms as he clenches his fists, fighting to maintain control of the wafer-thin thread binding his anger and frustration.
