summary: the players have a big game coming up and you told them that you and your kid couldnโt make it because of (generic excuse), but little did he know you guys were just in the stands waiting for him to notice

he is already so focused on training before the match that he doesnโt think too much on how you and you guysโ son canโt be there
your words donโt hit him until heโs in the middle of practicing sets with ushijima
he was mostly perfecting his already perfect sets to show off to his family but his recollection ofย โwe canโt be there!โย makes itself known
a little bummed but he was kind of used to it, being away a lot for games and practices
but his son was amazed at his dadโs skill in volleyball and his eyes would light up at the chance to watch his plays
he was another quiet kid but kind of like kageyama, kinda slow on most things bUT volleyball
they would practice setting the ball together before you scold them to get to sleep
kags included ofc he needs rest from all those practices
heโs used to not seeing you guys, knowing how busy you get with your own work and knowing his son insists on watching him on tv is enough
but coincidentally your meeting at the office was postponed and your son was estatic, in his own quiet way
once you both get to the stadium you find your seats that kags would usually reserve for you guys juuust in case you come
you were originally going to surprise him but little did you know he always flits his eyes over to that area to check
he is warming up and shock is evident on his features seeing you and your son, the young boy happily smiling as you pointed to the players
when your finger reaches him youโre suprised but wave at him, your son doing so as well
if you thought his sets were perfect ohoho his sonโs here watch them get better
after the game, you run down to greet him and before the interviewer could ask him something, he looks at them before pointing at you
ย you stop at how ridiculous he looks as he stutters out an apology before running to you
he smiles when he gets near and lifts your son from your arms, kissing you in the process
โyou..ah..cool!โ his son says, cupping his dadโs face
the cutest interview like his son is on his hip looking at his dad with stars in his eyes

it doesnโt show on his face but you know itโs there
everyone knows we has a family and they can see the subtle fondness in his features when something about you guys comes up
you never really gave him a direct answer if you were going to see his game
he always assumed you were going to come as you always do and it wasnโt uncommon to be a little late to the stands
your daughter loves her dad so much and she always clings to him because heโs โscaryโ and can keep her safe from everyone else
anytime you guys go to a game heโs right by your side and guiding you through the crowd if there were one

you did imply that you were going to be running some errands and your little girl wanted to tag along because you always bought her ice cream
he nods his head but doesnโt expect your seats to be empty about thirty minutes into the game
being ushiwaka he doesnโt get too deterred and plays like he usually does and there is a particularly loud spike he makes that scares your daughter when you guys find your seats
he yelps and clutches to your sweater, hiding her face in your neck
she was a very confident kid but never liked being loud instances such as thunder
you knew your husband was strong but damn
she knew it was from him so she sniffles before watching back at the game, the sight of her dad calming her down
afterwards your daughter is still clutching onto you and you find ushijima
he walks straight past the interviewers without batting an eye at them, although he did not intend to be rude, and opens his arms for the both of you
he sees that his daughter was mildly upset and that she had been scared by something, particularly him since she didnโt immediately reach out to him
he reaches out to softly pat her head, giving a knowing smile reserved for his family, and she finally climbs into his hold
the crowd in the stands just sees ushijima speaking in his normal way except heโs cradling his daughter in his arms

your daughter had no clue about anything volleyball, but she also liked seeing hinata after their game with her dadโs team

you told him that you daughter was invited to a birthday party and she couldnโt miss is because it was one of her best friends
you also had to stay back because you were going to pick her up after it was done
heโs upset but understanding and reassures you both that heโll be fine
heโs sulking pretty much the entire time heโs practicing but heโs a professional so his pre-game senses kick in making him look like his calm and collected self
turns out the kid got sick and the party was cancelled, go figure
your daughter wanted to show that she really did appreciate what her dad did and had you find one of his jerseyโs so she could wear it to the match
it was big on her but she looked really cute
the stadium was packed when you guys got there and it was in the middle of a set as you walk in
she points excitedly at her dad who had just saved a ball and was preparing to spike it
her eyes sparkle and she realizes who her favorite was all along
once the game is finished you find him talking to an interviewer with his usual public persona
your daughter finds him first and she tugs your hand to lead you to him
โdad! you looked like hinata shouyou!โ
he is surprised but chuckles at his daughters words, squatting down to receive her hug
โbut youโre my all time favorite!โ she pulls away to turn around and point at the back of her shirt which had his name
you bet the cameraman got all that
