“Shit – you’re not about to leave, are you?” Lina asks. Sweat still glues the old bowling shoes to her feet, despite being at the entrance of the bowling alley and not anywhere near the lanes. “Listen, I saw you get a strike, and I…” Her teeth sink into the inside of her cheek. “Okay, I’m trying to bowl without the bumpers, but my ball keeps going down the gutter anyway. I just can’t bowl straight I guess. And…I sort of made a bet with my neighbor that if I got a better score than them that they would make sure their kid would stop hucking golf balls at the side of my house,” She leaves out her end of the bargain - that she would ensure her cat, Drax, would stop biting their children. “I just need you to show me how to avoid the gutter. I’ll even get you some of those pretzels and queso, if you just do me this favor. Free pretzels, free queso, another free bowling game – really, you can’t lose.”

Jayson isn’t a regular bowler type of guy, but when he does bowl, he’s fairly decent at it. Tonight, he had needed something to let off some steam from the pressures of being Dean at SSU, and for whatever reason bowling seemed like a good idea. What he doesn’t expect is being accosted verbally by a random stranger when he’s attempting to leave. For a moment he stands there, brow raised as she speaks to him. When she gets to the golf ball bit, it makes him give a sudden snort of laughter. “You could always just murder the children. What would stop the golf balls without having to learn how to bowl.” His voice is a bit dry, so she might not even realize it’s a morbid joke.

The week that had passed had been a long one for Andrea, she had been working most of the week and she was thankful for the next few days off. She hummed softly to herself as she made her way to the grocery store. She just needed to grab a few things for her and Sooty and she would do the rest the next day. She rested her arms on the trolley as she walked around a mental note of everything that she needed to get. The blonde was grabbing something when she noticed some free samples, she was never one to pass them up and took one and began to eat it while she walked around. “I think I might have to get some of these.”She mumbled to herself as she looked over one of the shelves.  She was lost in her thoughts when she heard somebody next to her speaking, she turned smiling a little. “If you’re wondering where I got this, there’s the free samples a few isles down.”She said. “Or were you talking about something else? I’m sorry I was lost in my thoughts.

Ah, the damned grocery store. If there’s one thing he really detests, it’s grocery shopping. The saying ‘Hell is other people’ can really be true with in this place, because people are just so self-absorbed. Stopping with their carts in the middle of the aisle to stare at their phone, turning around without looking behind them so they smack right into you, and otherwise just being inconsiderate jerks. Jayson always endeavors to get in and out as quickly as is humanly possible. Of course, this trip is turning out to be no different. Some woman looking utterly sidetracked as she blocks the path, mere feet in front of him. He groans loudly, enough for her to hear. “I said, do you mind getting out of the way? I can’t stand here all day while you contemplate the different prices of ketchup brands.” Brows furrow, the hand basket that he’s gripping making his knuckles turn white from the effort. “I’m not sure how that is even remotely similar in sound to free samples.” He’s normally this much of an asshole, Jayson is just having a really, really bad day.
