i think villains in general provide better, more epic romances because they're allowed to go to extremes. they're allowed to put their love over the greater good. they're allowed to be selfish. the best a hero can offer you is number two, because their duty comes first. villains, though. villains will burn down the world for a last kiss goodbye.
Yea, sure. Until YOU or people you love are among the victims for someone elseโs love and the villains wonโt care. Would also like to point out that some villians(Kuvira, for example) have been willing to sacrifice/throw away love interests for their own goals.
idk about you but existing in the real world gives me and my loved ones immunity from the actions of fictional villains. hope you manage to get your family out of star wars.
i condone and support every single vile deed my problematic faves have done. not only that i think they should have done bigger and worse atrocities than already committed. i think that would have been funny
Writerโs block is getting ghosted by people who donโt exist.

Describing Fictional Accents
rjgamesย asked:
Hello, I see you already have a post on writing accents, my question though: Is there any other way to write accents without saying from where it comes from (i.e. french)? My story takes place in a fictional setting where Earth does not exist and Iโm having a difficult time with this. Also, I would not like to rely on misspelling a lot, or is that the only way? Thank you!
When you canโt say where an accent comes from, your best bet is to give the reader a basic idea of how it sounds. Obviously, there is no way to write a description that everyone will interpret the same way, and thatโs true even if youโre describing the sound of a real world accent. A really great formula for describing fictional accents is this: sound or flow descriptor + dialect descriptor + origin location + regional reference + pronunciation description Example: He spoke with the lyrical brogue of the Tonterosi highlandsโtrilled Rs, clipped consonants, and a lilt at the end of every sentence. - He spoke with the lyrical (sound or flow descriptor) brogueย (dialect descriptor) of the Tonerosi (origin location) highlandsย (regional reference)โtrilled Rs, clipped consonants, and a lilt at the end of every sentence (pronunciation description.) You donโt have to do it in that order, and you can do a little mixing and matching. Whatever sounds best. And, even though no two readers will interpret that the same way, youโre still giving them somethingย to imagine when they imagine this characterโs accent. At the end of the day, it doesnโt matter if they imagine your character with an accent that sounds English, or French, or Spanish, or none of the above. What matters is that they imagine an accent. Here are some words you can use in your descriptions: Sound Descriptors
Soulful Dulcet Golden Sweet Honeyed Flowery Silvery Syrupy Mellow Broad Flat Deep Sharp Thick Heavy Crisp Round Hard Jagged Throaty Nasal Guttural Husky Breathy Smoky Raspy Chirpy Rich Discordant Sonorous Flow Descriptors
Lyrical Melodic Songlike Musical Mellifluous Rhythmic Staccato Rolling Flowing Rhythmic Dialect Descriptors Burr Lilt Drawl Brogue Slur Twang Lisp Regional References Highlands Midlands Lowlands Country High Country Low Country Back Country North Country South Country East Country West Country Backwoods Coastal Northern Southern Eastern Western Midwestern Badlands Riverlands Grasslands Hinterlands Marshlands Wetlands Boglands Woodlands Moorlands Bushlands Shrublands Mountains Jungle Desert Plains Valley Basin Swamp Prairie Foothills Forest Savanna Tundra Plateau Steppe Inland Pronunciation Description
Clipped Stilted Cut Hissed Trilled Tapped Shortened Drawn out Drawled Elongated Dropped Tense Lax Rounded Raised Shifted Glottal stop Loose Tight
Other Sound Words
Cadence Rhythm Tempo Lilt Timbre Harmony Meter Beat Intonation Inflection โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ Have a writing question? Iโd love to hear from you! Please be sure to read myย ask rules and master list first or your question may go unanswered. :) ย
no offense but male protagonists whose strength comes from empathy, compassion and humanity will always be more interesting than snarky assholes who punch everything and treat everyone around them like shit
The hero shows up at the villainโs doorstep one night. Theyโre shivering, bleeding, scared. Thereโs also a slightly dazed look in their eyesโ they were drugged. They look like they were assaulted. Looking up at the villain, swaying slightly as theyโre close to passing out, they mumble โโฆdidnโt know where else to goโฆโ then collapse into the villainโs arms.
good shit: when a character with a reputation for being selfish and uncaring gets injured while doing something to protect others
good shit: when they pretend theyโre not injured and did nothing to protect anyone, because they want to keep up that selfish reputation
good shit: when the characters they were protecting only find out about any of this when the character collapses from the injuries theyโre trying to hide
being naked is not sexy. wearing a white 18th century shirt with poofy sleeves tucked into a pair of black high waisted trousers is sexy. there are no exceptions

Panjin Red Beach is located in the north east of Beijing and is appropriately called this due to the seaweed which turns to a bright red colour in Autumn. It has become known as theย โhome of the cranesโ and is the home to 260 different types of birds, including the endangered Crown Canes and Blacak Beaked Gulls, and 399 different types of wild animals.
Me: i am a writer
Also me: literally posts next to no writing
listen,,,
characters donโt need an in-narrative reason to be poc and/or lgbtqia+ย
they can just
exist
all you need to do is wrap your head around the concept that straight and white doesnโt have to be the default from which you build a characterย
writing is like keeping plants
Plants come in all different shapes and sizes. Some come from the amazon, where itโs warm and wet all the time, and some come from the desert, where they only see a few inches of rainfall per year. No plant is better than another. I mean, how can anyone not love plants?
Some need to be watered every day, some every week, some even every month or year, but the thing is that they all need to be watered at some point. Theyโre all good plants, and they all deserve the nutrients, but itโs you that has to tip the watering can first โ they canโt do that themselves.
Think of your writing as your very own plant, a new life that youโve planted and cared for over time. Water your plant. Give it sunlight. Even if itโs only once every month, plants like cactuses only need a couple drops! And even if you donโt care for it for a while, plants can always bounce back and grow new leaves and flowers that are bigger than ever.
So water your plants. Water your writing. One drop at a time.
