i think jax is very much winning on the surface, fortunately for her convenience and comfort, she doesn’t see much of a need to dig any deeper into those complex thoughts. She may come out of this with more empathy, but i’m not sure how much of that she’s feeling at this point. I have a lot to say about Jax in this fic and her coping mechanisms (or lack thereof) but i have to hold off until we see her pov again. Her thoughts and true feelings are being obscured until the right moment ;)

For Ragatha, man she just wants everything to be back to normal already. She’s lonely, she’s angry, she misses her friends.

She’s definitely getting a better sense maybe not of why exactly Jax is so guarded, but the pain that comes from living that way. Because she’s essentially being forced into wearing the same mask Jax started to wear as a defensive mechanism.

I very much admire her “i’m gonna figure this out and fix it all by myself” spirit, despite being treated like garbage by everyone else. Real “triumph of the human spirit” moment. We’ll see exactly how far that gets her when she literally has no control over the situation. Gumption won’t get her very far when she’s completely powerless to change any of this.
