Awkward Encounters
The cafe always calmed down after lunch time, once everyone got their midday caffeine hit and went on their way. Although he knew it wasn’t the best work habit, he usually settled down at one of the tables and spent a good hour or two reading the new arrivals. Scratching Cattitcus under the chin absentmindedly, Lennox flipped the page…then nearly jumped out of his seat as the bell on the door rang to signal someone had walked into the shop. Catticus let out an angry meow and jumped to the floor as Lennox pulled himself together. “Can I get you a coff-” but when the customer came into view, Lennox flushed. “a coffee. Can I get you a coffee?” // @hus-sara
How many minutes had she spent staring at the sign above the door? Bishop’s Books and Brews. She was familiar with the place, stopped in a couple times, but now it had added significance. Sara didn’t like running into her hook-ups but really who did? Unless it was for another hook-up, but that seemed unlikely. With a deep breath she stepped into the shop, the bell ringing and a heavy meow greeting her. The cat caught her attention first, hair raising on the back of her neck. They were diametrically opposed, cats and dogs, and Sara wondered if this was some sort of omen. Clearly, it was-- since when she looked up there was Cal, wide-eyed and blabbing like a fish out of water. “No thanks, coffee tastes like shit. I’ll take a tea though, earl grey with milk.” There was a pause. “Please,” she added.
