At this point, I don’t think Mahiru weird comments towards Es and her feelings towards them is just her being a love obsessed freak and being painfully socially unaware but actually a result of being treated the exact same way when she was their age when she was being prepped to be a bride. This series is all about the cycle of abuse after all, would it really surprise you if Mahiru was groomed in someway when she was younger especially with the purity nonsense going on with her not being allowed to see any boys. Speaking about the cycle of abuse, I think her parents always use the excuse of we’re just doing what’s right for your future and they were genuinely thinking that they were in the right which unfortunately was passed down to their daughter who despite wanting to not be like her parents and be more rebellious also followed that same excuse to justify her own selfish actions and thinking when it came to her boyfriend.

i’m so curious about what mahiru was doing right before milgram. like how much time elapsed between her boyfriend’s death and ending up in milgram. she doesn’t seem to have returned home at all/had any plans to but the thought of her just alone out there makes me so so so sad ☹️
