If you pay attention to his medals ^ in the restaurant scene, you will notice he has a Blood Order medal (circled for your convenience). This was only awarded to members who;

1. joined prior to 1932 and participated in the putsch of 1923

2. joined before 1933 or faced prison time for party membership before 1933

3. (exclusive to the austrian nazi party) participated in the putsch of 1934, or faced prison time for nazi activity.

Keep in mind that austria outlawed nazism and banned the nazi party in 1933. Whether landa earned the blood order for his actions in 1923 or in the 1930s, it was not socially advantageous in any way to be a Nazi (when they did not have any power yet). There is no reason I can see for him to do this if he didn’t believe in Nazi racial ideology at least a little.

About his speech in the opening scene, I don’t think this is as solid of an implication as people say because he is still comparing Jews to animals: the only difference is to him its a predator/prey dynamic, when to the other Nazis its a human/pest dynamic. Or if you look at what he says to Aldo & Utivich, claiming he doesn’t like being called the Jew Hunter (contrary to what he says in the opening scene), the whole scene is him trying to water down his involvement in the regime and seem like a normal man ‘just following orders’.

and like. fergus literally does very much tell bj to "save the kid", and subsequently is not especially forgiving of having what he meant to be his last wishes completely disregarded! and while they both have survivor's guilt they beat themselves up about (which. y'know. anyone would!), my impression was that fergus never really forgives bj for not listening to him and fulfilling BOTH of their duty to look after their men, whereas wyatt's hang-up is much more focused on feeling he can never do enough to Earn his survival...

i've honestly never seen anyone share a particularly good reason behind choosing fergus, it's quite literally just all gamerbros just barely too cowardly to admit they really want to suck gideon emery's dick!

the only decent reason to bother with the fergus timeline at all imo is to experience tekla, but. literally no point once you get to new colossus to stick with that decision!! if it were me adapting the games, i'd go for the wyatt timeline but just. have both tekla and j there in the new order part of the story, and have fergus feature in flashbacks periodically (along with wesley!).

No I totally agree, having both J and Tekla in the Wyatt timeline would have been great and I think your approach with Fergus and Tekla should be what they do in the show unless they are willing to make both the timelines.
