♕ lusty widow

“tell me about it, dear. i’ve been told i have a good ear for folk’s problems.”

alec always loved when jeremiah came through the lusty widow, he always brought an air of life and love through the bar. while she still hadn’t gotten him upstairs yet, she would one day ( hopefully ). “well hell, sounds like you had an easy day. color me green, i’m nearly jealous.”

she feigns offense, putting her hand over her heart with an exaggerated gasp. “well that’s just plain wrong,” she jokes, a gleeful smile pulling up her lips. “i was askin’ why you looked so sad, friend. you have a look about you. and i’m pretty dang good at tellin’ when folks are sad. kind of goes along with the job.”

she promptly grabbed his drink of choice and poured a healthy amount over ice. with a smile, she slid it his way. “can’t complain, sheriff. i got handsome men at my bar, pretty ladies in my rooms, and money’s flowing.” a wink and she lifts her glass in salute. “tell me ‘bout your day, sheriff.”

for that alec had nothing to add but instead slid her a fresh beer and a shot of whiskey, lifting her own glass of water for the other. “my mother had been a widow most of my life- hence the name of the bar. i saw how it tore her up as i got older, so i can only imagine how you’re feelin’.”

“tell me,” she said softly with a drink in her hand. “what’s got you lookin’ so down?”
