I also like the idea of showing something as a problem before it’s shown as a strength. Almost every character trait has two sides, and by showing the “bad” side first, it sets things up to not only make sense, but to also be very satisfying.

simon's name being "spoilers" for iron lung is actually a really interesting choice of markiplier's and i wanna Talk About it.

Markiplier SPECIFICALLY warned to not give away simon's name, and that it was a spoiler. Also since mark's name is so intrinsically tied to Iron Lung and its marketing, people would constantly refer to simon as "Markiplier" or "mark" since mark is so notorious.

In the movie, Simon's name has a LOT of symbolic meaning. it's his identity, a show of his personhood. and he's barely referred to by name, instead by titles given to him bc of his actions ("Convict", "Butcher"). The COI dehumanize him with these titles, stripping him of his humanity. They never got his name because he wasn't deserving of respect. He was a monster in their eyes, and therefore didnt deserve to have a name like a human being.

When we refer to simon as markiplier, we're kinda... doing the same thing, in a sense. by referring to him as "mark", we ignore the fact that simon is his own, very complicated character. even outside of the work of fiction, we're unintentionally robbing him of his personhood.

and whether or not that's the intended effect, it's still a fucking evil thought, and kinda genius if it was intentional. Mark using his own fame to make us perpetuate the same narrative that EVERYONE IN THE IRON LUNG UNIVERSE does to simon. and if it was on purpose mark better lock his doors because im going to break in and eat every single sweet thing in his cupboards so that he cant have Sweet Treats as revenge for this(joke)

I don’t think people truly understand the scope of the damage Sony is about to do to physical media. They literally invented the compact disc. They are the reason why Blu-ray as a format won the HD wars over HD-DVD. They have gargantuan influence over manufacturing disc-based media. If Sony as a company stops making physical media for their next gen gaming consoles, this is going to affect movies and music as well. If you buy CDs, DVDs, or Blu-rays, those are next on the chopping block.

tadc episode so fire i started writing an essay on the archetype of characters caine belongs to(Nonhuman characters(usually antagonists ) that want to be Human(aka: worthy of being treated with Basic Human Respect) but are never quite able to get it Right and are so confused because they just want to be Known and Loved but keep getting it WRONG and WHAT ARE THEY DOING WRONG and so keep getting more and more desperate and do terrible things and are therefore marked as Irredeemably Evil by the rest of the cast and the Narrative and how no-one attempts to understand WHY they do these things and just say that they are incomprehensible and need to be put down like a rabid dog when everything they do is all just a plea for connection and love and to understand because theY JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND THEY NEVER UNDERSTAND AND ARE VILLANIZED FOR IT) and how it can be seen as a metaphor for ableism and the neurodivergerent experience. and also because he made me Feel Things that i need to put into words. expect it between 2 years and 2 days
