This is a random rant about something I’ve noticed in the trans community.
I’ve noticed that there’s this expectation for transmasc/males to retain their past femininity, as in they must have a certain connection to femininity/girlhood, their past self will always be a girl. While with transfems/females it’s expected that they should abandon all of their masculinity and their past self was always a girl, they just didn’t know. I hate it honestly, transmascs can very much have a connection to femininity but it shouldn’t be expected, transfems can abandon all forms of masculinity but it shouldn’t be expected of them.
It's a very. "progressive radfem" cis-centered "explanation" in a way, I think.
Trans men have to cling to their "girlhood" to prove that they're "still safe" for cis-feminist spaces, while trans women can't hold on to their "boyhood" even if they want to, because the idea that someone even just has lived as a boy without it making them inherently bad actively seems to confuse many cis women, so they try to explain it away
Trans girls always know, so there's no way they could be misogynistic men like TERFs say, because they were never actually male, while trans boys always grow up as girls, so there's no way they could be misogynistic men, because they know firsthand how it is to grow up female
It's just trans-'friendly' radfem logic.
