Headcanons for Gilbert’s Birthday ~
Since today (January 5th) is the birthday of our beloved blonde haired angel, I decided to do some headcanons about how he celebrates this special day.
What does he think of birthdays?
Gilbert would probably see his birthday (both his and anyone else’s) as a normal day. Perhaps if he was not in his best days, he would have a more negative and melancholy view, thinking that we are approaching the day of death.
After he started to socialize more, he started to care and to wish “Happy Birthday” to the people around him. It was a way for him to get closer to the other boys.
The birthday he most likes to celebrate is Serge’s, because he knows it makes him happy.
What’s the best gift he’s ever received?
He does not usually receive many gifts, the few he received were from Auguste, and although they were interesting, they had no real meaning.
The best gift he received was being able to spend his days with Serge and the few people who accept him and treat him well (Pascal, Carl, Kurt).
But speaking of materialism, for sure anything he receives that has real intentions will be greatly appreciated. Especially if it’s a gift from Serge.
How does he celebrate his birthday?
Celebrating his own birthday is still something new for him (he only started celebrating properly after he turned 15). He usually spends the day normally, it is his friends who do something special for him.
Usually the boys gather around a small cake bought in Arles and sing a song, in addition to ensuring that the day is peaceful for him.
Sometimes he receives some small gifts, as the boys are not allowed to go out frequently to buy, and is also the victim of some birthday prank (like the frog Kurt gave him on his 15th birthday).
What is his favorite part about birthdays?
What he likes most about birthdays is the fact that he feels a more normal person when he celebrates like any boy his age would do, in addition to realizing that he is not alone.
He also feels a certain relief that he managed to stay alive for another year, despite all the difficulties.
In the end, what he likes most is the fact that he feels loved and has someone who cares enough about him to celebrate the day he came to this world.
