season 4: i’ve only known you for a hot second, but i’m going to turn my back against everything i’ve ever known and do you a real solid just because you make me feel weird stuff. Could be indigestion, idk. “I was getting too close to the humans in my charge - you.”

season 5: i’ve legit sacrificed everything for you, bro, including murdering my own species just to help you out, and yet you’re still tryin’ to test me? From stripclubs to Satan’s bullshit -That’s fucked up. “I’ve given everything for you, and this is what you give to me?”

season 6: i’ll pretty much do anything if it means this one singular human doesn’t have to have a bad day for the rest of his life, up to and including working with a bunch of dipshits behind said human’s back because that objective is more important than settling the apocalypse the right way. “It seems so simple when you put it like that. Where were you when I needed to hear it?” “I always come when you call. Would anyone but your closest kin do more for you?”

season 7: turns out when you make shitty decisions for the sake of sparing one dude’s feelings it comes back to bite you in the ass. and then you die. and then you come back to life. and then that same guy finds you of all people and gives you really sad pathetic puppy eyes when he sees you with someone else. and SOMETIMES you go CRAZY. “I remember you. I remember everything.” insert weird clip of everything revolving around that one guy. alternatively, “Nobody cares that you’re broken, Cas.” wow. what a dick.

season 8: back on my bullshit. would do anything to protect that dumb guy with the car if it means he has even a fighting chance at survival. fuck my own life tho lol. error 404: castiel is broken, must reboot. kill 1,000 dean replicas and still not be able to kill the real deal. (also never TELL him about this for reasons) “You’re family. We need you. - I - need you.”

season 9: literally a useless human now and after everything guy kicks me out. what an asshole. really shows who your real friends are. But like holy shit, has he always been this cute? lol somehow only my grace is needed for a spell about loving humanity? weird. it’s not like that guy represents humanity on this show or anything. “You drape yourself in the flag of heaven, but it was all for saving one man.” / “He’s in love… with humanity.”

season 10: wtf is even happening. this guy i probably love has turned into a psychotic serial killer and instead of ditching his ass i’ve decided that watching him MURDER THE WORLD is a more romantic approach to the problem at hand. But it’s ok because we mirror that other couple where the wife had to do the same thing. weird. very bro like. This couldn’t have any consequences – proceeds to get fucking pummeled. “All she asked of me was one thing. –To stop.”

season 11: taking a mental vacation. gets possessed just to let the devil figure out this mess he’s made. like that one meme. can’t deal with that other guy liking somebody else either. lots of sad eyes. Hypothetical: guy asks you on a drive before he dies for the 118th time says “You’re like a brother to me.” And well, that’s just the last thing you want to hear from the guy you’re in love with.

season 12: wow boy i just keep fucking UP. i almost DIED. finally admitted to the human that i loved him, but i couldn’t look him in the eye, and then things got really tense, so i wanted to make sure the room knew i was in love with them too. didn’t die tho, got even more tense. then the guy up and makes me a mixtape? whatever that means. idk tho i ran away because i was just SO embarrassed. And for some reason he left me 27 voicemails and cried and shit so i came back, but he was REAL mad so i thought maybe we’re broken up now and tried to give back the tape. “It’s a gift, you keep those.” AND THEN I DIED FOR REAL.

season 13: This fucking douchebag tries to taunt me for my undying love despite the fact dean thinks we’re bros. “I know what you fear, I know who you love. There’s nothing for you back there.” meanwhile dean tries to fucking kill himself cuz he’s sad about me dying. only best bros do that. like BEST bros. And then voila, i’m alive again. couldn’t be because dean’s gay love was so strong it pierced through the veil of death and saved the day. nope not at all. “We got Cas back, I’d say that’s a pretty big win.”

season 14: dean wants to murder our son and he has no respect for my feelings. i want a divorce.

Dean has used his friendship with Cas as leverage and threatened to take it away when Cas can’t do what he wants. Dean has felt so entitled to Cas’s help that he expected, and demanded, that Cas be at his beck and call 24/7 despite Cas being in the middle of a civil war to stop the apocalypse. Dean told Cas that he was family to emotionally manipulate him and then immediately threatened to kill him when Cas wouldn’t do what he wanted. Dean stood over Cas’s dead body and victim blamed and berated his corpse. Dean deliberately kept Cas’s identity from him when he had amnesia so it’d be easier to manipulate and use him. Dean traded Cas to a demon. Dean told a mentally ill, suicidal Cas in a childlike mental state that “nobody cares that he’s broken.” Dean never tried to get Cas out of Purgatory after he got out himself, he led everyone else to believe that Cas was dead thus potentially sabotaging anyone else’s efforts to rescue Cas, he refused to listen to Cas when he wanted to talk about what happened, he refused to take any responsibility, and he yelled at Cas and blamed him for everything. Dean kicked Cas out of the bunker and never helped him or did anything to make sure he’d be okay afterwards. Dean used Cas as a distraction during the fight with Lucifer in the cage and never tried to save Cas when Lucifer was beating him and almost killed him. Dean abused Cas’s son when he died. Dean locked Cas’s son up and told Cas that’s where he was going to stay when Cas protested. Dean maliciously rubbed in Cas’s face that he was going to murder his son and there was nothing he could do about it. Dean told Cas that he didn’t care about how Cas felt that Jack was going to be killed and gave Cas an ultimatum of either going along with killing his son or walking away. Dean only asked Cas if he was okay to show Cas how little he cared about his well-being.

Dean has punched Cas, banished him, broken objects around him multiple times, pointedly handled weapons that can kill Cas while threatening him with violence, slammed him against a wall, and beaten him. Dean constantly criticizes Cas, yells at him, berates him, belittles him, humiliates him, and degrades him. Dean constantly dismisses Cas—his thoughts, his ideas, his opinions, his feelings, his goals, and his accomplishments. Dean has made Cas think that he’s a failure and made Cas doubt his relationships with other people by constantly bringing up Cas’s mistakes, telling him that he can’t do anything right and that he fails at being a good person, and telling Cas that the people that he’s hurt won’t forgive him and that he’s nothing to them. Dean has automatically refused to help Cas for no reason whatsoever almost every single time Cas has gone to him for help. Dean expects Cas to do only as he says, and Dean has outright said that Cas does not have a choice more than once.

“cas let sam out of the panic room! he knew that lilith was the final seal! he tried to start the apocalypse!”

cas was literally tortured back into obedience by heaven and did all of that under orders. orders that if he were to disobey, he’d either be tortured again or killed. and the latter of which did happen to him when he disobeyed to try and stop the apocalypse. and then cas died again to help stop the apocalypse. (also, honestly. cas gave sam the opportunity to leave the panic room. but he didn’t force him to. cas opened the door and everything that happened after that was, actually, all free will.)

“cas worked with crowley! and he did it behind samndean’s backs!”

cas was working with crowley to stop the apocalypse. the winchesters also worked with crowley to stop the apocalypse. they even worked with crowley to stop godstiel after they disowned cas for working with him. and if it hadn’t’ve been for cas working with crowley and getting the souls from purgatory, raphael would’ve killed cas and cas’s followers and started the apocalypse again.

“cas broke sam’s wall!”

cas apologized for that—to dean and sam—and went above and beyond fixing the problem by taking all of sam’s cage trauma into himself.

“cas let out the leviathans!”

cas did not let out the leviathans. he did not even know they were possessing him initially. he tried to put them, and all of the souls, back into purgatory but the leviathans took control of him and then broke free of his body. the leviathans breaking out were an unintended consequence of stopping raphael and the apocalypse. and cas helped defeat them in the end, anyway.

“cas made all the angels fall!”

wrong. metatron made the angels fall. cas was not only manipulated by metatron into thinking he was closing the gates of heaven but he was then betrayed by metatron and used as the last ingredient for the spell. and cas not only tried to help the angels get back into heaven afterwards but he helped stopped metatron as well so.

“cas said yes to lucifer and let him out of the cage!”

cas was seconds away from lucifer killing him (while the winchesters did nothing to save him, might i add) when he said yes. and cas said yes because lucifer was the only viable option they knew of at the time to defeat amara, an even greater threat than lucifer. and lucifer did, actually, try and help them stop amara so. and afterwards cas helped put lucifer back in the cage so. (or at least he thought he did, and would’ve, had it not been for crowley’s interference.)

“cas betrayed the winchesters and went behind their backs and stole the colt!”

cas did not betray the winchesters. he went off on his own with the colt because he would rather face the danger and emotional turmoil of killing kelly and the nephilim rather than subject the winchesters to it. that’s not cas betraying the winchesters. that’s cas sacrificing himself, once again, for their benefit at his expense.

cas (and kelly) wanted jack to be born with his powers; the winchesters did not. the winchesters outright told cas that they would not let him (and thus kelly and jack) leave. that is why cas knocked them out in the first place because they are the ones who didn’t give cas a choice. (and why the fuck is cas not consulting them or getting their approval on everything he does held against him? that just makes his relationship with them/dean sound as abusive as it actually is tbqfh.)
