"Jared, come look at this. They had Maxine drop it off, but it's from Rebecca. Why she couldn't bring it herself, or God forbid, just tell us to our faces, I will never know."
"Is this one of those situations where you actually want me to come read it or are you going to read it out loud as I'm walking over." Jared made no move to get off the couch.
"Just come here," Libby snapped.
As soon as he was next to her, she started reading out loud to him. He sighed.

Dear Homeowners at 818 Petunia Avenue:
Your household stands in violation of several provisions of the Cherryville Manor Homeowners' Association rules. Please take this letter as your first notice and correct the violations within two weeks, or you will be assessed HOA fines.
Violation 1: Your perimeter fence was repaired in a timely manner following the last incursion, but fence materials must be placed no lower than 8 feet and no higher than 12 feet. Your repaired fencing includes a four foot span measuring 14 feet. As you know, excessive fencing tells the traveling scavengers we have something worth fighting for, increasing the costs for all of your neighbors.
Violation 2: Your corn and tomato crops are not covered by an HOA approved anti-drone screen. The screen you have does not meet HOA standards, and, as above, makes the community and its resources the potential target of drone enabled scavengers and the security forces of the Enclave, when they leave the Wall. Please correct immediately.
Violation 3: Your rain barrels are placed less than 8 feet from the property line between 818 Petunia and 820 Petunia. Relocate barrels away from the property line.
Thank you for your prompt attention to these matters. We look forward to seeing you at the neighborhood corn boil in September.
Best regards,
Rebecca Henderson, President
Cherryville Manor Homeowners' Association
Libby crumpled the envelope as she finished reading. "Can you believe this? Your fence is too tall."
